The field visit offered a direct look at the potential of the TSTH2 area as a center for research, innovation, and processing in the herbal and horticultural sector. The presence of the Temasek delegation is expected to create opportunities for strategic cooperation and investment, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem that supports regional economic growth.

On this occasion, Vice-Governor Surya emphasized the commitment of the Provincial Government of North Sumatra to support the development of TSTH2 as a leading area that can strengthen regional competitiveness.

According to Surya, TSTH2, located in the Pollung district of the Humbahas region, is a strategic area that must develop into a center for research and development of the tropical bioeconomy in Western Indonesia.

He believes that economic development based on research, innovation, and local knowledge is no longer merely a regional agenda, but a national strategic priority.

He added that TSTH2 has the potential for more than 100 varieties of high-quality local herbs and horticultural crops, such as andaliman, black turmeric, red ginger, and various highland varieties.

The agro-climatic conditions of Humbang Hasundutan are considered ideal for seed development, research into climate adaptation, and the production of exportable raw materials.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Economic Council, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the government, the business community, and international partners to accelerate the development of research and innovation-oriented sectors.
