North Sumatra aims for 7.3 million free health checks
The Provincial Government of North Sumatra (Pemprov) is continuing the implementation of the free health check (CKG) program for the population. By 2026, the Provincial Government of North Sumatra aims for 46% of the population, or approximately 7.3 million people, to make use of the CKG services.
The CKG program, which has been running since February 2025, has proven increasingly successful. In 2025, 22.56% of the population of North Sumatra had used the service. This year, the target has been raised to 46%.

“In 2025, North Sumatra achieved the fourth-highest score at the national level, with a target of approximately 22.56%. This target has been gradually increased, and this year we are aiming for a percentage of 46%,” stated Hery Valona Bonatua Ambarita, Head of the Public Health Department (Kabid Kesmas) of the North Sumatra Health Bureau, during a press conference of the North Sumatra Communication and Information Bureau (Kominfo) in the North Sumatra Dekranasda lobby, the office of the Governor of North Sumatra, Jalan Diponegoro, Medan.
In June 2026, the North Sumatra Health Bureau recorded that 3.2 million people had utilized the services of the Community Generals (CKG). These services are available in 619 Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) distributed across all districts/cities in North Sumatra. With this achievement, the Health Bureau of North Sumatra is optimistic that the target of 46% can be reached by the end of the year.
To accelerate the implementation of the program, Governor Bobby Nasution of North Sumatra is paying special attention to encouraging district and city administrations to optimize the implementation of CKG services in their respective regions.

The CKG program focuses on early detection (screening) to map the health status of the community, so that potential diseases can be identified and treated early before they develop into more serious conditions. Therefore, the public is encouraged to make use of this service.
“We hope that the public will use this program for the early detection of our health problems,” said Hery.
In addition to expanding CKG services, the provincial government of North Sumatra also continues to strengthen equal access to healthcare through the implementation of the Universal Health Insurance (UHC) program for the residents of North Sumatra. ***REL
