At the opening of the 11th North Sumatra Jamda in 2026, Surya, who is also Vice-Chair of the Regional Advisory Council of the North Sumatran Scouting Movement, stated that the Jamboree is more than just camping and gathering.

It is a platform for self-development and personal growth amidst the challenges of the global era, which requires the younger generation to possess intellectual intelligence, a strong character, collaborative skills, adaptability, and to uphold the values of Pancasila.

“Therefore, make use of every activity during this Jamboree to gain experience, deepen friendships, develop creativity, practice leadership, and foster a spirit of mutual cooperation. Be a role model at school, in your family, and in your community. Be a generation that proposes solutions, and not merely a spectator of changing times,” said Surya.

Surya emphasized that the Provincial Government of North Sumatra (Pemprov) will continue to support various youth development programs, including through the Scouting movement. He is convinced that the best investment for the region is to develop individuals with character, integrity, health, intelligence, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Meanwhile, Bachtiar Utomo, Secretary General of the National Scouting Movement (Kwarnas), stated that the Jamboree is more than just a large camp held once every five years. According to him, the activity is an educational experience for scouts aged 11 to 15.

“Here, friendships are forged, leadership is developed, character is formed, and the first steps are taken to develop future ambitions. Therefore, I want to express my extraordinary and greatest appreciation to the regional headquarters of the North Sumatra Scouting movement for their excellent preparation for this activity. The organization of the North Sumatra Jamboree in 2026 is truly extraordinary, as it is the first of its kind in Indonesia where no fees are charged to participants,” said Bachtiar.

He believes that the current young generation needs better preparation than previous generations, because they live amidst rapid technological developments, unlimited flows of information, and dynamic societal changes.
