Joint inspection of truck violations prevents damage to Galang Road

The Provincial Government of North Sumatra (Pemprov) conducted a joint inspection of heavy trucks on the Lubukpakam–Tanah Abang and Tanah Abang–Galang–Serdangbedagai sections. This measure was taken to prevent further damage to the road amidst ongoing road improvements.

The Provincial Government of North Sumatra is currently working on structural improvements on both sections, with a budget of 17 billion Indonesian rupees for a total length of 5.05 kilometers.

“In accordance with the instructions of Governor Bobby Nasution, we will divert high-tonnage trucks to other lanes, with a maximum weight of 10 tons for these two sections,” stated Yuda P Setiawan, head of the North Sumatran Transport Agency, at his office.

During the inspection, the joint team found no significant violations. However, monitoring of these routes will continue to ensure that heavy trucks adhere to tonnage regulations.

“We checked ten vehicles yesterday and only one exceeded the tonnage limit, but even that one was empty. We will continue to monitor this section to ensure that trucks that are overweight or too heavy do not drive through here,” Yuda added.

In addition to the checks, the joint team also continues to educate truck drivers about the importance of safety and complying with traffic rules.

“We continue to educate truck drivers about safety, and these checks are advisory in nature, not enforcement,” said Yuda. ***REL
