Governor Bobby Nasution receives appeal from supporters for the Free Nutritious Meals Program
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, met with hundreds of people from the Community Organization for Free Nutritious Meals (LMP MBG) who held a peaceful demonstration in front of the Governor of North Sumatra’s office at Jalan Diponegoro No. 30 in Medan on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The demonstrators expressed their support for the continuation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) and handed over a petition addressed to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
Bobby Nasution addressed the demonstrators and expressed his appreciation for the community’s support for the importance of the MBG program. He stated that the benefits of the program are directly noticeable to children and parents in various regions.
Bobby also acknowledged that the national program still requires improvements and refinements in its implementation. However, he emphasized that the evaluation process must not undermine the nutritional needs of the children who have benefited from the program.
“We all agree, whether present or not, that improvements and refinements are necessary. But do not sacrifice the needs and wishes of the children, because their efforts are already noticeable,” said Bobby.
Because the demonstration took place around the Asr prayer, Bobby invited about ten representatives of the crowd to a follow-up meeting at the office of the Governor of North Sumatra, so that a clearer and more constructive discussion could take place.

During the meeting, Bobby assured that the petition from the community in North Sumatra would be forwarded to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. He also invited all parties, including members of the community, the North Sumatra Regional Police, and the Military Command (Kodam), to work together on the implementation of the program to guarantee its effectiveness.
“This letter is addressed directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. We all in North Sumatra, both the beneficiary communities and the local government, pray for the same, so that the nutritional needs of our children will be met even better in the future,” Bobby concluded.
Earlier, Said Siregar, secretary of the LMP MBG, read out the five-point petition along with other demonstration coordinators, calling on the central government to guarantee the continuation of the MBG program to support the formation of a healthy and intelligent generation.
“We demand that this nutritious meal program be continued and not stopped. If the BGN (Bureau of General Staff) has made a mistake, the person responsible must be replaced, not the MBG program stopped. This program is very beneficial for our children,” Said Siregar said resolutely.

Broadly speaking, the petition contains five demands: President Prabowo Subianto is requested to ensure the continuation of the MBG program, to improve food safety standards and distribution mechanisms to make it faster, safer, and healthier, and to resolve various obstacles in the field objectively and constructively without violating the rights of the beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the community encourages the active involvement of academics, health workers, SMEs, civil society organizations, and local authorities in monitoring and improving the program. They also requested the North Sumatra Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) to oversee these wishes and forward them to the central government.
The demonstration, which was guarded by the police and officials from the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov), proceeded in an orderly and peaceful manner and concluded with the official handover of the petition to the North Sumatra Provincial Government. ***rel
