Kahiyang Ayu confirms commitment to promoting North Sumatra crafts and textiles on the global market
The Chairman of the National Crafts Council of North Sumatra Province (Dekranasda), Kahiyang Ayu, attended the festive gathering in honor of the 46th anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) at the Trans Studio Mall (TSM) in Makassar.
This occasion was used to emphasize the commitment to promoting North Sumatra crafts and textiles, so that they become more competitive and can enter the global market.

Kahiyang Ayu was accompanied by the Vice Chairman of the Dekranasda of North Sumatra, Titiek Sugiharti. The Chairman of Dekranas, Selvi Gibran Rakabuming, was also present at the festive gathering in honor of Dekranas’ 46th anniversary.
This year, Dekranas has chosen the theme “Sustainable artisanal production, global artisans” to support the development of a national artisanal industry that is environmentally friendly, offers added value, and can compete internationally.
For North Sumatra, this event is a strategic opportunity to promote a variety of high-quality regional products, ranging from crafts and traditional textiles to culinary specialties. The presence of the North Sumatra Regional Craft Council (Dekranasda) at this national event is expected to further strengthen the competitive position of local SMEs in both the national and international markets.
The Chairperson of the Dekranasda of North Sumatra, Kahiyang Ayu, emphasized her willingness to support the vision of Central Dekranas through continuous development for artisanal and textile entrepreneurs, from the beginning to the end of the production chain.

“This anniversary of Dekranas is a source of encouragement for us in North Sumatra. The textile and handicraft products from North Sumatra are incredibly unique and highly sought after. We are committed to continuously encouraging local artisans to improve their craftsmanship, optimize the aesthetic quality and packaging of their products, so that our local products can compete nationally and even conquer the global market,” said Kahiyang.
The chairman of Dekranas, Selvi Gibran Rakabuming, emphasized the importance of continuous innovation so that Indonesian handicraft products can meet the needs of the modern market without losing their cultural identity.
“With the theme ‘Sustainable Craft, Global Artisans,’ we want to ensure that Indonesian handicraft products are not only beautiful and artistic but are also produced according to environmentally friendly and sustainable principles. Dekranas will continue to support and facilitate our artisans so that they can develop, become globally competitive, and conquer the international market,” said Selvi.
The conclusion of Dekranas’s 46th anniversary was marked by an exhibition of high-quality products from all provinces of Indonesia, a regional textile fashion show, and an educational forum for artisans.
