The National Crafts Council of North Sumatra (Dekranasda) promotes high-quality handicrafts and textiles in Makassar
The National Crafts Council of the Province of North Sumatra (Dekranasda) participated in the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) at the Trans Studio Mall (TSM) in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The event was used to promote handicrafts, textiles, and various high-quality products from North Sumatra, with the aim of preserving cultural heritage and expanding the market for regional handicraft products.
The Chairman of Dekranasda North Sumatra, Kahiyang Ayu, hopes that the Dekranas anniversary will be an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, expand networks, and promote high-quality regional handicraft products, enabling them to compete better on the national and international market.
“Hopefully, creativity and innovation will continue to grow, so that the artisans of North Sumatra make progress, SMEs become stronger, and the cultural heritage of the archipelago receives more international recognition,” said Ayu.
The closing of the celebration of Dekranas’ 46th anniversary was attended by provincial, district, and city branches of Dekranasda from across Indonesia. The event took place from July 8 to 12, 2026, at Trans Studio Mall Makassar.
On this occasion, Selvi Ananda, Chairperson of Dekranas, emphasized the importance of strong synergy between the central Dekranas and the regional Dekranas throughout Indonesia.

She stated that Dekranasda should not only organize ceremonial events but also act as mentors, coaches, and facilitators for artisans, so that the artisanal products of SMEs can enter the global market.
With the theme “Sustainable artisanal creation, global artisans,” Dekranas’ 46th anniversary demonstrated its commitment to encouraging local artisans to increase their competitiveness through digitalization, product innovation, and broader market access.
The opening ceremony was marked by the playing of the Pajajari drum and the cutting of a tumpeng (rice cone) by the Chairman of Dekranas. The program also included an exhibition featuring approximately 3,000 SMEs, which was visited by 4,000 to 5,000 participants from various regions. ***rel
