The Active Indonesia Movement and the Spirit of Sport for Everyone
The Acting Regional Secretary of the Province of North Sumatra, Sulaiman Harahap, has called upon the Indonesian Committee for Community Sport (KORMI) to continue promoting the Active Indonesia Movement and the Spirit of Sport for Everyone.
These efforts are considered crucial for popularizing sport and ensuring that all segments of the population have access to a healthy, fit, and productive life.

Sulaiman made this appeal during the opening of the Provincial Working Meeting (Rakerprov) of KORMI North Sumatra 2026 at the Emerald Garden Hotel, Jalan KL Yos Sudarso No. 1, Silalas, West Medan District, Medan City.
Sulaiman stated that community sport has a very broad meaning. He believes that sport is not only about competition and winning medals, but also about developing healthy lifestyle habits, strengthening social relationships, promoting enjoyment, and improving the quality of life of the community.
“KORMI is a strategic partner of the government in building an inclusive sports culture that all segments of the population can enjoy, from children and youth to the elderly,” he said.
He is convinced that community sports play an important role in addressing the challenges of our time, particularly in light of the increasing digitalization of activities that are leading people to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle.

Meanwhile, Ari Yuniawan, Deputy Secretary-General I of KORMI, praised the rapid development of KORMI North Sumatra. Within seven months, KORMI has reached all districts/cities in North Sumatra.
“The province of North Sumatra has enormous potential for community sports. Community diversity, strong organizational integrity, and the support of all involved are crucial for realizing a healthy, fit, and happy society,” he said.
The head of KORMI North Sumatra, M. Daffasya Adnan Sinik, stated that KORMI also makes a significant contribution to improving the Human Development Index (HDI) by strengthening the health and productivity of the community.

“We also play a role in building the Human Development Index (HDI). Many people in North Sumatra still have a low HDI. KORMI is not just a community sport, but a genuine collaboration with the Agency for Youth and Sports, the Agency for Tourism, the Agency for Health Care, and the Agency for Education,” he concluded. ***rel
