Ramadan Week 2026 in North Sumatra: A Space for Inclusive Cooperation
Acting Regional Secretary of the North Sumatra Province (Sekdaprov), Sulaiman Harahap, hopes that Ramadan Week 2026 in North Sumatra will become a space for inclusive cooperation.
This activity is intended to bring together the government, security services, businesses, local communities, and the broader society in a shared spirit: building a stronger and more harmonious North Sumatra.
Sulaiman expressed this hope during the meeting on cooperation within the framework of the Ramadan week in North Sumatra in 2026. The meeting took place in Conference Room I of the Office of the Governor of North Sumatra, Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro No. 30, Medan, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Synergy between regional bodies must be strengthened
During the meeting, Sulaiman emphasized several key messages to the participants. First, coordination must be carried out in a detailed and measurable manner, starting with technical site planning, safety, traffic planning, the readiness of public facilities, hygiene, healthcare, and public information and communication.
Second, synergy between regional bodies and agencies must be strengthened. Each party has a strategic role, depending on its main tasks and functions. “No one can act in isolation. Cooperation must be genuine, both in planning and implementation,” he said.
He further emphasized that the implementation of activities must have a clear impact, both socially and economically, and that it must strengthen shared values. Safety and order are also of primary importance.
Ramadan is the ideal time to stimulate the local economy
According to him, Ramadan is the ideal time to stimulate the local economy, particularly SMEs, while simultaneously increasing optimism among the population. “Let’s make the 2026 Ramadan week in North Sumatra an example of solid cooperation between governments that responds to the needs of the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yuda P. Setiawan, head of the North Sumatra Agency for Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy (Kadisbudparekraf), announced that the 2026 Ramadan week in North Sumatra will take place from March 7 to 15, 2026, at the North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) on Jalan Gatot Subroto in Medan.
“The activities include a bazaar, a food market, a night market, lectures by traditional religious leaders, and a joint Quran recitation, with participation from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The event runs from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM and is free of charge,” he concluded.
The meeting was also attended by members of the North Sumatra Regional Communication Forum for Leadership (Forkopimda) and all regional administrative organizations (OPDs) throughout North Sumatra. ***rel
