North Sumatra Provincial Korpri MTQ serves as a means to strengthen the Quranic character of civil servants
The Provincial Government of North Sumatra (Pemprov) once again organized the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) as an expression of its commitment to strengthening the spiritual and moral foundations of civil servants. Through this activity, the Provincial Government of North Sumatra hopes to train civil servants with a Quranic character, integrity, and the ability to serve as role models for the community.
The 8th North Sumatra Provincial Korpri MTQ took place over two days, June 24 and 25, 2026, at the North Sumatra Youth and Sports Office on Jalan Willem Iskandar in Deliserdang. The event was opened by the Deputy Director-General of the North Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, Muhammad Suib.

In his speech, Suib emphasized the importance of a balance between professional work performance and strengthening moral and spiritual values for civil servants.
“Amidst the increasingly complex demands of these times, civil servants are expected to continuously strengthen their spiritual and moral foundations to prevent them from being easily undermined by negative influences. Therefore, the MTQ (Quran recitation) is relevant for the development of civil servants with a Quranic character,” said Suib at the opening of the 8th provincial-level Korpri MTQ in North Sumatra.
According to him, the MTQ Korpri North Sumatra also offers the opportunity to select the best qori (Quran reciters) and qoriah (Quran reciters) who will represent North Sumatra at the national Korpri MTQ, which is scheduled for late August 2026.
“I hope that the participants make full use of this opportunity, show sportsmanship, and demonstrate their best qualities, not only to perform, but also as an expression of our love for Allah and the Quran,” he said.
Suib hopes that the MTQ will not only be a competition but will also stimulate a moral movement to anchor Quranic values within the bureaucracy. For instance, civil servants in North Sumatra are expected to develop greater integrity, faith, and piety.
“In this way, we get civil servants who can offer the best service to the public while simultaneously serving as role models in society,” he said.
The 8th provincial Korpri MTQ (Quran Recitation) in North Sumatra included various competitions, including Tilawah (Quran Recitation), Qiraat (Quran Recitation), Hifzil Quran (Quran Memorization), Tafsir (Quran Interpretation), Fahmil Quran (Quran Memorization), and various other categories. Participants from all districts/cities in North Sumatra took part in this event, which concludes on June 25, 2026. ***rel
