Governor Bobby Nasution receives feedback from fishermen in West Nias
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, held a direct meeting with the residents of West Nias as part of the SADA (Regional Greeting) program. During the meeting, Bobby listened to the residents’ various wishes and offered solutions to a number of issues raised.
The community submitted various proposals, ranging from assistance with the purchase of fishing gear for fishermen and the development of infrastructure to support for the construction of places of worship. Several issues falling under the jurisdiction of the provincial government of North Sumatra were addressed directly.

One of the community’s wishes was the need for fishing boats, fishing gear, and the construction of breakwaters. In response, Bobby assured that the assistance with boats and fishing gear would be provided and that the construction of breakwaters would be coordinated with the central government.
“The boats will arrive after August. In addition to the provincial government, I am also willing to provide extra boats and fishing gear using my own resources. The breakwater is a ministry project, but we will raise it with the ministry and collaborate with them,” said Bobby Nasution during a meeting with the community at RPJ Beach in Sirombu, West Nias.
In addition to meeting the needs of the fishermen, the community also proposed contributing to the construction of the Al-Uswah Grand Mosque and the accelerated repair of the Lalowau-Sirombu and Sirombu-Gunungsitoli provincial roads. Bobby emphasized that the road construction will be carried out in phases, depending on the available budgetary resources.
“Our mosque cannot raise 100 million rupiah; we can only contribute 250 million rupiah, so I request that you reconsider your proposal. As for the road, we can only repair 5 kilometers. After our inspection, we determined that approximately 17 kilometers are damaged, and we will repair them in phases,” said Bobby Nasution, who was present along with Kahiyang Ayu, chairman of the North Sumatra Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK).
To ensure that every request was met quickly, Bobby had also brought along various heads of regional government organizations (OPDs) within the North Sumatra Provincial Government, including the head of the Education Department, the head of the Social Affairs Department, the head of the Public Works, Construction and Public Works Department (BMBKCK), the head of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Department, and other relevant OPDs.
“Later, we will submit technical questions to the head of the respective department so that we can clarify the technical details,” said Bobby.
The community of Sirombu welcomed the dialogue. One of the residents, Ahmad Rafi Zebua, said that such a forum was sorely needed because it offered the community the opportunity to discuss problems directly with the governor.
“This is the first time we have spoken directly with the governor and reached a solution, rather than just talking. We are very grateful that there are solutions to our problems, even though not all of them can be implemented immediately. Hopefully, the implementation will proceed quickly,” said Ahmad. ***REL
