Fortun collides with motorcycle, fatal victim
A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a Fortuner on Tuesday afternoon (March 17, 2026) on Jalan Pematang Siantar, kilometer 3, in the village of Tambunan Lumban Gaol, Balige district, Toba.
The victim is identified as Sugiharto (44), a resident of Sariburaja Janji Maria Village. He was urgently transported to HKBP Balige Hospital.
Car likely skidded in light rain
The head of the Public Relations department of the Toba police, Fransiskus Situngkir, confirmed the incident. He explained that the accident occurred when the Fortuner, driven by Mangsor (46), a resident of Pardomuan Nauli Village, was driving from Tarutung to Balige. “It is suspected that the car lost control on the wet road caused by light rain. The vehicle then swerved from left to right before ending up in the oncoming lane and likely a motorcycle traveling from Pematang Siantar towards Balige,” he said.***
