Kahiyang Ayu distributes student grants to 118 talented students from underprivileged families
Kahiyang Ayu, advisor to the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the province of North Sumatra, together with Evi Novida Ginting, chairperson of the DWP North Sumatra, presented student grants to 118 students from schools supported by the DWP North Sumatra.
The financial support was intended for talented students from primary, secondary, and vocational schools from underprivileged families.

The presentation of the financial support took place on the occasion of National Children’s Day. A workshop on financial literacy and the importance of saving was organized for students from the schools supported by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan North Sumatra.
Additionally, student grants were provided to the sons and daughters of civil servants and to talented, underprivileged students from the schools supported by the DWP North Sumatra. The event took place at the DWP North Sumatra Foundation Middle School in Medan.
Kahiyang Ayu’s presence was enthusiastically received by students and teachers. During the meeting, she spoke with the students about the importance of developing a saving habit from a young age to prepare them for realizing their dreams.
“Do you have any savings yet? Do you save regularly? What are you going to save for later? I want to give you a bicycle as a gift,” said Kahiyang.

The question was immediately answered with enthusiasm by the students, who rushed to respond. One of them was Habib Alfarisi, a tenth-grade student from DWP North Sumatra High School, who explained that he had had a savings account since primary school and wanted to become a doctor.
“I only save when I have a lot of money. That money is for my studies,” he said.
On that occasion, Kahiyang Ayu, together with Evi Novida Ginting, chairperson of DWP North Sumatra, presented a symbolic study grant to four student representatives from a primary school, a secondary school, a higher education school, and a vocational school.
In addition to the study grant, all students also received school supplies such as books, bags, and other stationery.
One of the recipients, Viola Khairunnisa, an eleventh-year student at DWP North Sumatra High School, expressed her gratitude for the study grant. She said that the grant would help her finance her future education.

Viola, who came second in her class, hopes that the grant will encourage her to continue her studies. “I am very happy with this grant. I hope the money will be useful for my future education,” she said.
Evi Novida Ginting, head of DWP North Sumatra, stated that the activity aims to increase students’ understanding of the importance of financial literacy from a young age. Furthermore, the activity promotes a culture of saving as a step towards developing thrifty habits, discipline, and responsibility in handling finances.
According to her, DWP North Sumatra also wants to motivate students to plan for the future through sensible financial management.
Through financial support for education, DWP North Sumatra also recognizes children of civil servants and students from disadvantaged schools who excel or come from underprivileged families, while simultaneously strengthening social awareness to support the improvement of educational quality and family well-being.
