Expansion of Preschool Education Facilities in Gunungsitoli: Preschool education is the foundation for regional progress
The Vice-Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Surya, is committed to strengthening Preschool Education Facilities (PAUD) as part of efforts to develop high-quality human capital.
According to him, improving the quality and availability of preschool education is a crucial investment to promote community well-being and accelerate the progress of the Nias Islands.

During his visit to the Amin Simanaere PAUD on Jalan Raya Pelud in the Gunungsitoli district, Gunungsitoli City, Surya was greeted by dozens of teachers, students, and parents.
He was accompanied by Titiek Sugiharti, a staff member of the North Sumatran Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Marthinus Lase, Vice-Mayor of Gunungsitoli, and various leaders of the Regional Government Agencies (OPD) of the Province of North Sumatra.
The Amin Simanaere PAUD currently has 45 students and six teachers. The Deputy Governor is particularly concerned about the state of the modest classrooms in the backyard of the Simanaere Church, as well as the limited learning and play facilities.
“I am here on behalf of Governor Bobby Nasution to inspect various public facilities. It is our duty to help the Nias Islands, including the city of Gunungsitoli, move forward,” said Surya.

According to him, the education sector is one of the most important development priorities of the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Therefore, preschool education facilities require joint attention from both the district administration and the provincial government.
“We want the community to become prosperous and free itself from poverty. A determining factor is the improvement of education, both in terms of quality and quantity (of facilities). For imparting knowledge to children with sincerity and honesty is the best investment in the future,” he said.
Surya also hopes that the various needs of the Amin Simanaere Center for Preschool Education can be gradually met with the support of the Municipality of Gunungsitoli.
“Hopefully, the various needs of this school can be met by the Municipality of Gunungsitoli by 2027, so that children can learn with better facilities,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Septinus Zebua, head of the Amin Simanaere Center for Early Childhood Education, hopes that his school will receive government support, particularly for the construction of classrooms and the purchase of learning and play materials to optimize the educational process.
Marthinus Lase, Deputy Mayor of Gunungsitoli, also emphasized the municipality’s commitment to supporting various government programs, particularly in the education sector.
He believes that improving the quality of education is a strategic step to help the Nias Islands break free from their status as an underdeveloped region. ***REL
