Nationwide, this vocational training program is intended for 50,000 participants. In Central Java, the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BBPVP) in Semarang is targeting 2,464 participants across 25 regencies and cities.
In the Brebes region, 32 participants in the first cohort are being prepared for immediate employment at PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang.
In his address, Cris emphasized that competence is a vital asset for workers to remain relevant in an evolving labor market. Consequently, the training has been designed to align with both the needs of the participants and the demands of the job market.
“We hope that competency-based training will provide tangible benefits to workers affected by layoffs, equipping them with stronger skills to re-enter the labor market and improve their own well-being, as well as that of their families,” he stated.
Cris urged the participants to take the training seriously and to fully master the skills being taught.
These skills are expected to be utilized for securing new employment, becoming entrepreneurs, or further developing existing businesses. “Do not view layoffs as the end of your career, but rather as an opportunity to create new possibilities,” he said.
This program is being carried out in collaboration with the BBPVP (Vocational Training Center) of Semarang, the Brebes Regency government, and the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) of Brebes Regency.
As part of the series of activities, Cris also oversaw the implementation of “Tailor-Made Training” (TMT) at the Anugerah Trikarya Utama vocational training institute (LPK). The Semarang BBPVP aims to deliver 741 TMT packages (involving 11,856 participants) for use by ministries/agencies, local governments, private vocational training institutes (LPKs), and the community.
