Titiek Sugiharti, an official with the North Sumatra Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), encouraged parents to strengthen their children’s character, starting within the family.
According to her, the family is the primary place where children learn life values through their parents’ example.

Titiek Sugiharti made this appeal during the commemoration of Children’s Day 2026 at the Lubuk Pakam Fruit Park in Sumbul Village, Sinembah Tanjung Muda Hilir District, Deli Serdang Regency.
“The family is the most important place for a child’s learning. Within the family, children learn about love, religious values and morals, discipline, responsibility, and caring for others,” she said.
Therefore, Titiek encouraged parents to always make time for their children. She noted that listening well, being patient, and serving as a role model in daily life constitute a vital investment in shaping the character of the nation’s next generation.
Titiek stated that the 42nd National Children’s Day serves as a reminder that every child is both a responsibility and a gift to be cherished and protected, and that their rights must be guaranteed.
“Children are not only the heirs of the family but also the heirs of the nation’s development. Indonesia’s future is largely determined by how we prepare children today. Every child has the right to live, grow, and develop; to receive a good education and healthcare; and to feel safe and free from all forms of violence, discrimination, exploitation, and neglect,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jelita Asri Luddin Tambunan, Chairperson of the Deliserdang Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), stated that the theme for this year’s National Children’s Day is: “Loving children, protecting children, building children’s futures.”
According to her, the meaning of “loving children” is expressed through affection, attention, good communication, and loving parenting.
Furthermore, children are entitled to all their basic rights—ranging from having their own identity, education, and a balanced diet to having adequate space for play—so that they can grow and develop optimally.

“Let us create a safe and comfortable environment—at home, at school, and in the community—so that children are protected from violence, bullying, exploitation, and discrimination,” she urged.
On this occasion, Titiek Sugiharti and Jelita Asri Luddin Tambunan also presented various forms of aid to the beneficiaries, including child identity cards (KIA), wheelchairs, and savings passbooks.
The Children’s Day 2026 commemoration in Deliserdang featured various performances by children, such as storytelling, poetry recitations, singing, a fashion show, and traditional dances.
Titiek also took the time to greet children playing traditional games—such as congklak and engklek—as well as those participating in batik making and robotics activities at the Lubuk Pakam Fruit Park. ***rel
