Minister of Manpower Yassierli expressed his support for the development of businesses in the fisheries sector, which has the potential to create new jobs and attract local labor.
Yassierli made these remarks during an inspection of a fish processing plant in the Bungus Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS) area in Padang, West Sumatra, on Friday, September 25, 2026.

During the inspection, Yassierli commended the young entrepreneurs who have established fish processing businesses and hired dozens of local workers. He stated that companies with the potential to create jobs deserve support.
“As long as they have the potential to create new jobs, I will certainly support them, God willing,” said Yassierli.
This support is provided through measures such as workforce capacity building. The Ministry of Manpower regularly offers training for workers and fishermen through its Vocational and Productivity Training Centers (BPVP).
The training is tailored to practical needs in the field and includes operational support as well as the provision of stipends to participants.

Menteri Ketenagakerjaan (Menaker) Yassierli menyatakan dukungan terhadap pengembangan usaha di sektor perikanan yang berpotensi menciptakan lapangan kerja baru dan menyerap tenaga kerja lokal.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Yassierli saat meninjau pabrik pengolahan hasil perikanan di kawasan Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Bungus, Kota Padang, Sumatera Barat, Jumat, 25 September 2026.
Dalam peninjauan tersebut, Yassierli mengapresiasi wirausahawan muda yang mengembangkan usaha pengolahan hasil perikanan dan telah menyerap puluhan tenaga kerja lokal. Menurutnya, usaha yang memiliki prospek penciptaan lapangan kerja perlu mendapat dukungan.
“Selama prospeknya untuk penciptaan lapangan kerja baru, pasti insyaallah saya akan dukung,” ujar Yassierli.
Dukungan tersebut dilakukan antara lain melalui peningkatan kapasitas tenaga kerja. Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan (Kemnaker) melalui Balai Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas (BPVP) memberikan fasilitas pelatihan kerja secara berkala bagi pekerja dan nelayan.
Pelatihan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan di lapangan, termasuk dukungan operasional dan pemberian uang saku bagi peserta.
Selain peningkatan kapasitas tenaga kerja, pengembangan usaha juga membutuhkan kolaborasi lintas pihak. Yassierli mengatakan kolaborasi antara kementerian, pemerintah daerah, dan pelaku usaha dapat meningkatkan efisiensi pengolahan produk turunan perikanan sekaligus memperluas jangkauan pasar.
Dalam pengembangan usaha tersebut, pelaku usaha menyampaikan sejumlah kebutuhan operasional, di antaranya ketercukupan BBM bersubsidi dan ketersediaan air bersih untuk menunjang operasional 70 hingga 80 unit kapal penangkap ikan yang beroperasi di wilayah tersebut.
Merespons aspirasi tersebut, Menaker berkomitmen membantu menjembatani komunikasi dan mengoordinasikannya dengan kementerian atau lembaga terkait.
“Aspirasi yang berkaitan dengan sarana operasional dan efisiensi kawasan ini akan terus kita dorong bersama agar aktivitas ekonomi sektor perikanan di Bungus terus berkembang secara berkelanjutan,” pungkas Yassierli.
