The Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker) offers access to training and employment opportunities for individuals who have overcome drug addiction and completed a rehabilitation program.

This initiative aims to ensure the continuation of the recovery process until they are able to become productive and economically independent once again.

This step is part of a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Labor, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Health regarding the implementation of rehabilitation and aftercare.

This synergy was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Synergy in the Implementation of Rehabilitation and Aftercare for Addicts, Abusers, and Victims of Narcotics, Psychotropic Substances, and Other Addictive Substances (Napza).

The signing took place at the Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM) of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Minister of Labor Yassierli stated that the opportunity to secure decent employment must be open to every citizen without discrimination.

He noted that those who have completed the rehabilitation process require opportunities to develop their skills and contribute to the best of their abilities.

“Recovery is not the end of the process. After rehabilitation, they must be given the chance to return to work, create something, and live independently,” said Yassierli.

According to Yassierli, successful rehabilitation is not defined solely by physical and psychological recovery. Aftercare following rehabilitation is also essential to help them rebuild their lives, earn an income, and develop self-confidence as they reintegrate into society.

To this end, the Ministry of Labour will offer competency-based training tailored to the needs of the workforce. These training programs aim to equip participants with the necessary tools to enter the labor market, based on their skills and areas of interest.

“We are preparing not only the training itself but also the pathways for them to access employment or start their own businesses once they have acquired the necessary competencies,” the minister stated.

For participants opting for wage employment, the Ministry of Labour can facilitate placement by matching their competencies with the needs of employers.

For those aspiring to become entrepreneurs, training can focus on technical skills, business knowledge, and mentoring relevant to their chosen field of business.

Yassierli emphasized that the sustainability of these efforts requires the involvement of the government, the private sector, rehabilitation facilities, and the community.

“We must give them a second chance. Once they have completed the recovery process, we need to ensure there is a path for them to become productive and self-reliant again,” said Yassierli.

Speaking at the same venue, the head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized that efforts to prevent and eradicate drug abuse require the involvement of various parties.

According to him, the BNN cannot tackle this problem alone; therefore, synergy between institutions is crucial for creating a healthy, intelligent, strong, and productive society.
