Residents of Nias proud of their excellent school

The renovation of the Sukma Nias State Senior High School is expected to be completed in December 2026. The school, with its more modern facilities, was enthusiastically received by the community as a step to improve the quality of education on the Nias Islands.

The renovation of the school began in April 2026. Students currently receiving lessons at a temporary location are expected to move to the new building in January 2027.

A parent, Ainil Wardha Zaluhu, expressed his pride after his child successfully passed the entrance test for the Sukma Nias State Senior High School. He is convinced that the renovation of the school will further improve the quality of education on Nias.

“I am even prouder that we have a school with excellent facilities that can compete with other top schools in North Sumatra, and even nationwide,” said Wardha following the visit of the Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, to the Sukma Nias State Senior High School in Gunungsitoli.

Yulisa Zai, another parent, shared this opinion. She hopes that the reconstruction of the school will lead to better people for the Nias Islands.

“We are very grateful to the governor for the reconstruction of the Sukma High School. We hope that our children will become smarter and more successful,” said Yulisa.

The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, personally inspected the construction progress of the Sukma State High School on his second day in office on the Nias Islands, Thursday (July 16).

The inspection was conducted to check whether the construction, which costs 87 billion rupiah, is proceeding according to plan. The head of the North Sumatra Department of Education, Alexander Sinulingga, stated that the governor wants to guarantee that the entire construction process runs smoothly so that it can be completed on time.

“The governor wants to ensure progress. The goal is to deliver the school in December so that our children can use it in January, including the 12 new study groups. We hope for the support of all parties involved to guarantee the smooth progress of the construction,” said Alexander.

Alexander explained that the Sukma Nias State Senior High School will be equipped with various support facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, teacher housing, a water tower, a prayer room, a church, an auditorium, a cafeteria, a sports field, and other outbuildings. ***REL
