Official Opening of Ramadan Week in North Sumatra 2026
Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution of North Sumatra officially opened Ramadan Week 2026 in North Sumatra on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) on Jalan Gatot Subroto.
The event, which took place from March 7 to 15, 2026, was intended to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and strengthen cooperation between the government, businesses, communities, and the public.
In his speech, Bobby Nasution emphasized that Ramadan Week is an important incentive to strengthen solidarity and stimulate economic growth, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during Ramadan.
“We hope this moment will bring blessings. We also heard the theme of the prayer for disaster recovery in North Sumatra, which will be held over the next nine days. Through the prayers we offer, we hope that all of this will bring blessings and avert disasters in the North Sumatra region,” he said hopefully.
North Sumatra Ramadan Week Collaboration 2026
Meanwhile, Ferry Indra, director of PT Pembangunan Infrasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU), stated that the North Sumatra Ramadan Week 2026 collaboration aims to strengthen the community’s faith and devotion to Almighty God, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Furthermore, this activity is expected to strengthen cohesion and unity in North Sumatra and encourage the active participation of the community, communities, organizations, and businesses in various social and religious activities.
Various activities were organized during the event, including Gema Wahyu, with recitations from the Holy Quran, the completion of the Quran, collective prayers for North Sumatra, attractions, a Ramadan bazaar with basic necessities at affordable prices, and a small business bazaar with approximately 55 stalls.
Local Economic Growth During Ramadan
Ferry hopes that the collaboration for the 2026 Ramadan week in North Sumatra will boost the quality of worship, strengthen social ties, and promote local economic growth during Ramadan.
The launch of the cooperation for North Sumatra’s 2026 Ramadan week was marked by North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution playing the tambourine, along with North Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Chairman Erni Ariyanti, Vice Governor Surya, North Sumatra Acting Regional Secretary Sulaiman Harahap, and the North Sumatra Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). ***rel
