North Sumatra Information Commission and APDESI North Sumatra Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Information Disclosure
The North Sumatra Information Commission (KI) and the Association of Village Governing Bodies of North Sumatra (APDESI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining their shared commitment to implementing information disclosure.
The MoU was signed by the Chairman of the North Sumatra Information Commission, Dr. Abdul Harris Nasution, SH, MKn, and the Chairman of APDESI North Sumatra, Suparman, on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the office of the North Sumatra Information Commission, located at Jalan Al Falah No. 22, Medan.
The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of members of the North Sumatra Information Commission and the board of APDESI North Sumatra.
Village leaders must implement information disclosure
The Chairman of the North Sumatra Information Commission, Dr. Abdul Harris Nasution, SH, MKn, emphasized that it is hoped that with this agreement, the board and members of APDESI will immediately implement Law No. 14 of 2008 on the disclosure of public information.
“I hope that with this agreement, all members of APDESI North Sumatra will no longer be unfamiliar with information disclosure. As a result of this agreement, the North Sumatra Information Commission, together with APDESI North Sumatra, will continue to provide education and awareness-raising on information disclosure, so that all village chiefs who are members of APDESI understand and implement Law No. 14 of 2008 in the performance of their village governance duties,” Harris said.
Harris explained that village chiefs, as leaders of public village bodies, must implement information disclosure, especially when implementing village programs whose entire budget comes from the national budget (APBN) and the regional budget (APBD).
Many village leaders still don’t understand information disclosure
Meanwhile, Suparman, chairman of APDESI North Sumatra, along with secretary Sugianto SH MH, emphasized that his organization is very grateful for the memorandum of understanding with the North Sumatra Information Commission. He hopes that all members of APDESI North Sumatra will now be aware of information disclosure.
“We frankly admit that many village leaders still don’t understand information disclosure, which has led to numerous disputes regarding information related to village funds handled by the North Sumatra Information Commission,” Suparman emphasized.
Suparman further explained that this memorandum of understanding does not provide the Information Commission with additional support, but rather a tool to better understand the implementation of Law No. 14 of 2008 on information disclosure.
“We will certainly be more aware and better understand what information is public and what information may not be disclosed,” Suparman said.
Present at the signing of the agreement were the secretary of APDESI Serdang and the village head of Dagang Karawang, Muhammad Nur, as well as directors and members of APDESI Deli Sedang, including Toni Sitorus. ***obs
