North Sumatra accelerates infrastructure projects for 2026
The Provincial Government of North Sumatra (Pemprov) is continuing its efforts to accelerate infrastructure projects in 2026. Several physical projects under the ‘Fastest Best Results Program’ (PHTC) and regional strategic projects (PSD) are currently underway.
According to the overview of physical activities for 2026 from the Agency for Roads, Construction and Public Works of North Sumatra (BMBKCK), there were 41 projects underway on July 10, 2026, consisting of 7 PSD projects and the remainder PHTC activities.

“We continue to promote development in North Sumatra. We are committed to the infrastructure projects in 2026 to ensure they are on schedule, including priority areas in various regions/cities,” said Chandra Dalimunthe, Head of the BMBCK Agency for North Sumatra, on Tuesday (July 14, 2026).
He explained that the physical development activities include improving provincial road infrastructure, building retaining walls, dikes, and gabions along provincial roads, land reclamation/raising, provincial road rehabilitation, regular maintenance, increasing provincial road capacity, and bridge construction.
The progress of these ongoing physical development projects is visible in various districts/cities, including North Padang Lawas, Asahan, Batubara, Gunungsitoli, West Nias, North Nias, Humbang Hasundutan, Labuhanbatu, Simalungun, Karo, South Tapanuli, Pakpak Bharat, Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, Serdangbedagai, Tebingtinggi, Mandailing Natal, Toba, Medan, and Deliserdang.
Meanwhile, contracts have been signed for 14 physical development projects, including the PHTC project (Plantap), the PSD project (Spreading Materials), and the disaster relief project for the construction of a new bridge on the Simpangtiga Namu Unggas-Tangkahan provincial road in the Langkat Regency.

Thirteen physical development projects have entered the tendering procedure, including, in addition to PHTC activities, disaster management activities for the construction of retaining walls, slopes, and gabions on the Kuala Sp. Marike section in the Langkat Regentship, as well as physical development projects funded by the Regional Transfer Fund (TKD).
Furthermore, five physical development projects are in the tendering procedure for the preparation and publication of the General Procurement Plan (RUP), located in West Nias and South Nias.
Two projects in Deliserdang for which the Radiation Use Plan (RUP) has not yet been finalized are currently in the tendering process: the optimization of the centralized wastewater system (SPALD) in the province’s strategic area (fiscal incentive for fiscal year 2025) and the improvement of the road infrastructure of Sihaporas (border of the Paluta Regency) – Paringgonan section (Palm Oil Revenue Distribution Fund 2026 and through fiscal year 2024) in North Padang Lawas.
The post-disaster reconstruction project in the planning process for 2026 focuses on 21 activities. Physical development includes repairing bridge ramps, building retaining walls/gabions on provincial roads, and replacing bridges. This post-disaster reconstruction will be carried out in Langkat, Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, North Tapanuli, Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, and Mandailing Natal.
