National Children’s Day: Kahiyang Ayu encourages hundreds of orphans, poor children, and people with disabilities to buy school supplies
Kahiyang Ayu, chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement team and advisor to the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of North Sumatra Province, celebrated National Children’s Day with hundreds of orphans, poor children, and people with disabilities in Tebingtinggi.
During an activity titled “Loving, Protecting, and Building the Future for Children,” Kahiyang invited them to buy school supplies at a modern shopping center.

The activity, part of a series of events for National Children’s Day in North Sumatra, was a collaboration between the PKK of North Sumatra Province, the DWP of North Sumatra, and the Integrated Health Post Posyandu 6 of North Sumatra Province (Minimum Service Standards (SPM) 6).
The event took place in Ramayana Tebingtinggi and was attended by hundreds of children from five districts of Tebingtinggi.
At the shopping center, Kahiyang Ayu encouraged the children to choose for themselves what they needed. Each child received a shopping voucher worth 500,000 rupiah, which they could use to buy items such as clothing, bags, sandals, and shoes.
Together with Evi Novida Ginting, Chairperson of the North Sumatra Regional Leadership Council (DWP), and Susmita Wanti Irdian Saragih, Chairperson of the Tebingtinggi Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Kahiyang greeted each child as they were sorting through their groceries.

“What do you want to buy?” Kahiyang Ayu asked one of the boys.
In every conversation, Kahiyang also encouraged the children to remain enthusiastic about learning, to love their parents, and to continue striving to realize their dreams. According to her, this activity is a simple act of caring to make children in need happy.
“These children are our shared responsibility; we must ensure that they can grow up to be a resilient generation and become Indonesia’s golden generation,” said Kahiyang Ayu.
Sabill, a third-grade primary school student, was also very happy that she and her friend Alea could buy new bags and shoes.

“I am so happy that my groceries have been paid for. Thank you for everything,” said Sabil.
Ilham Fahmi, a sixth-grade primary school student, expressed a similar feeling when he came to buy new sportswear and shoes with his mother.
“I want to buy a football shirt and shoes. My old shoes are too small,” he said. ***REL
