Major police reorganization: Inspector General Sandi Nugroho appointed police chief of South Sumatra
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has once again implemented major rotations and transfers within the ranks of senior officers (Pati) of the National Police.
Several strategic positions have been reshuffled, including the South Sumatra police chief, head of the National Police Training Institute (Kalemdiklat), and several regional police chiefs and deputy regional police chiefs in Eastern Indonesia.
The transfer was outlined in the National Police Chief’s telegram, number ST/99/I/KEP./2026, dated January 15, 2026. Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, head of the Public Information and Public Relations Department, confirmed the transfer.
“Yes, that’s correct,” Brigadier General Trunoyudo confirmed in a statement to journalists on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Change of Head of the National Police Academy
With this transfer, the position of head of the National Police Academy is now entrusted to Inspector General Achmad Kartiko, who was previously deputy head of the Police Academy.
The position of deputy head of the Police Academy is now held by Inspector General Andi Rian, who was previously the regional police chief of South Sumatra. Change of South Sumatra Police Chief and Head of the National Police Public Relations Department
To fill the position of South Sumatra Police Chief, the National Police Chief has appointed Inspector General Sandi Nugroho. Sandi was previously Head of the National Police Public Relations Department.
The position of Head of the National Police Public Relations Department is now held by Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Izir, who was previously Chief of Police of West Papua.
Rotation of Senior Officers in Papua and Surrounding Areas
The position of West Papua Police Chief has now been assigned to Brigadier General Alfred Papare, who was previously Chief of Police of Central Papua.
Commissioner Jermias Rontini, who was previously Inspector of the Papuan Police, has been promoted to Chief of Police of Central Papua.
Papua Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Faizal Ramdhani, has been appointed Senior Police Instructor, Level I, SESPIM, Lemdiklat Polri (Indonesian National Institute for Police Training). Chief Commissioner Muhajir will take over the position of Papua Deputy Police Chief.
West Kalimantan and Bali are also undergoing reorganizations
The position of Deputy Police Chief of West Kalimantan (Kalbar), previously held by Brigadier General Roma Hutajulu, has been taken over by Brigadier General Hindarsono.
The position of Deputy Police Chief of Bali, previously held by Brigadier General I Komang Sandi Arsana, has now been assigned to Brigadier General I Made Astawa.
