International promotion of Batak culture through the Toba Caldera Culture Festival 2026
Governor Bobby Nasution of North Sumatra promotes the Toba Caldera Culture Festival 2026 as an initiative to introduce and promote the richness of Batak culture internationally.
He also emphasized the support of the provincial government of North Sumatra for the festival, which he hopes will strengthen cultural promotion and attract tourists to the Samosir Regency.
Bobby made this statement during an audience with the organizing committee of the Toba Caldera Culture Festival 2026 and the Regent of Samosir, Vandiko Timotius Gultom, at the office of the Governor of North Sumatra, Jalan Diponegoro No. 30, Medan, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

“The provincial government of North Sumatra wholeheartedly supports this event. We hope that this festival will be of great significance, particularly for the promotion of the culture of Samosir,” said Bobby.
Bobby also encouraged the committee to collaborate with the Department for Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy of North Sumatra (Disbudparekraf).
According to him, this collaboration can be realized through various artistic and cultural opportunities, including singing to promote regional music.
“The committee can collaborate with the Bureau of Tourism, for example through singing, to promote Batak songs internationally,” he added.

Furthermore, the provincial government of North Sumatra is open to consultation with the committee regarding the technical support and facilities needed to guarantee the success of the festival.
Bobby is optimistic that the event can become a tourist attraction and generate economic benefits for the residents of the Lake Toba region, particularly Samosir.
Meanwhile, Vandiko Timotius Gultom, the regent of Samosir who accompanied the committee, stated that their visit was aimed at fostering friendship and seeking advice from the Governor of North Sumatra regarding the execution of the festival.
“We came to inform them about the planned event, to ask for support from the provincial government of North Sumatra, and to obtain input from the governor so that the festival can proceed optimally,” said Vandiko.

The Toba Caldera Culture Festival 2026 will take place from September 24 to 27, 2026, in the Samosir district.
The event includes cultural exhibitions, art performances, a platform for the development of participants’ talents and creativity, including a choir competition, and a captivating Batak cultural performance to attract both domestic and international tourists. ***rel
