Gabion construction on Miga-Lolowua Road proceeding according to plan
The Vice Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Surya, confirmed that the gabion construction on the Miga-Lolowua provincial road in Gunungsitoli is proceeding according to plan. This infrastructure has been constructed to prevent various landslides and to reinforce the road surface for safe traffic.
During an on-site inspection, Surya received reports of nine landslides on the road. To address these issues, the provincial government of North Sumatra is building retaining walls, or gabions, which serve as foundations and bear the load of the road.

“I am here on orders from the Governor (Bobby Nasution) to check whether the road construction is proceeding according to plan,” stated Vice Governor Surya.
Surya emphasized the importance of a rapid completion of the work, as the road is a strategic route connecting Gunungsitoli with the West Nias district. According to him, interregional connectivity on the Nias Islands is one of the development priorities of the North Sumatra Provincial Government.
“As soon as the schedule is established, the project must be completed immediately and on schedule. This road is important and necessary for the community. Moreover, this route connects the city of Gunungsitoli with West Nias, as well as other locations on the Nias Islands,” he emphasized.
On that occasion, Surya also inspected one of the sites affected by landslides, which was severely damaged. Construction has begun on a solid foundation to make the road more robust and better able to withstand future landslides. The project is expected to be completed within approximately three months.

“In principle, we want this infrastructure development to proceed according to plan.
