Competency standards for mobile phone technicians must be continuously developed
The profession of mobile phone technician today encompasses more than just repair work. Skills such as microsoldering, precision, and manual dexterity must be complemented by problem-solving abilities and discipline.
“Competency standards for mobile phone technicians must be continuously developed. This change is evident in the shift in required skills—moving from a focus on basic repairs and general knowledge to more specific, precise, and measurable technical skills,” stated Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor during his address at the Circuit Global Championship (CGC) Indonesia 2026: Mobile Phone Repair Exhibition & Competition, organized by the Indonesian Mobile Phone Technicians Association (TESPOIN) in Jakarta on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya; the Head of the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), Syamsi Hari; the Chairman of the TESPOIN Indonesia Advisory Board, Didi Rosadi; and the Chairman of TESPOIN Indonesia, Doli Halomoan Harahap.
This event brought together industry players, technicians, communities, and stakeholders to further advance the mobile phone technician profession.
For technicians, enhancing competence requires certification as a recognition of expertise. This effort is expected to contribute to establishing a standardized profession for mobile phone technicians that meets the needs of both society and the industry. “To achieve this, the government plays a role through policy and training programs, while the industry acts as an employer and as a party that understands the required work standards,” said Afriansyah.
Afriansyah stated that improving the skills of technicians does not stop at education, training, or competitions. This process must be lifelong, as technology and labor market needs are constantly changing.

“This cycle can begin with competitions to identify roles and assess shortcomings, followed by competency development to cultivate more precise and certified skills,” Afriansyah said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya welcomed the collaboration between the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, BNSP, and TESPOIN within the framework of CGC Indonesia 2026.
He believes that the mobile phone technician profession is growing rapidly and that there is a need for continuous improvement in quality and the recognition of expertise.

Standar kompetensi teknisi ponsel perlu terus dikembangkan
Profesi teknisi ponsel kini berkembang lebih luas dan tidak lagi sekadar berkutat pada pekerjaan reparasi. Keterampilan seperti micro-soldering, ketelitian, dan kecakapan tangan perlu dilengkapi dengan kemampuan memecahkan masalah (problem solving) dan kedisiplinan.
“Standar kompetensi teknisi ponsel perlu terus dikembangkan. Perubahan tersebut dapat dilihat dari pergeseran kebutuhan keterampilan, yang sebelumnya lebih berfokus pada perbaikan dasar dan pengetahuan umum menjadi kemampuan teknis yang lebih spesifik, presisi, dan terukur,” ujar Wakil Menteri Ketenagakerjaan (Wamenaker), Afriansyah Noor dalam sambutannya pada Circuit Global Championship (CGC) Indonesia 2026: Mobile Phone Repair Exhibition & Competition yang digelar Asosiasi Teknisi Ponsel Indonesia (TESPOIN) di Jakarta, Sabtu, 26 September 2026.
Ajang tersebut turut dihadiri Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif Teuku Riefky Harsya, Kepala Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi (BNSP) Syamsi Hari, Ketua Dewan Pembina TESPOIN Indonesia Didi Rosadi, dan Ketua Umum TESPOIN Indonesia Doli Halomoan Harahap.
Kegiatan ini mempertemukan pelaku industri, teknisi, komunitas, dan pemangku kepentingan dalam pengembangan profesi teknisi ponsel.
Bagi teknisi, peningkatan kompetensi perlu diikuti sertifikasi sebagai bentuk pengakuan atas keahlian. Upaya ini diharapkan mendukung terwujudnya profesi teknisi ponsel yang terstandar dan memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat serta industri.
“Untuk mewujudkan hal tersebut, pemerintah memiliki peran melalui kebijakan dan pelatihan, sedangkan industri berperan sebagai penyerap tenaga kerja sekaligus pihak yang memahami standar kerja yang dibutuhkan,” kata Afriansyah.
Afriansyah mengatakan peningkatan kemampuan teknisi tidak berhenti pada pendidikan, pelatihan, maupun kompetisi. Proses tersebut perlu berlangsung sepanjang hayat karena teknologi dan kebutuhan dunia kerja terus mengalami perubahan.
“Siklus tersebut dapat dimulai melalui kompetisi untuk mengetahui posisi dan mengevaluasi kekurangan, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan peningkatan kompetensi untuk menghasilkan keterampilan yang lebih presisi dan tersertifikasi,” tutur Afriansyah.
Sementara itu, Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif Teuku Riefky Harsya menyambut baik kolaborasi antara Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan, Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif/Badan Ekonomi Kreatif, BNSP, dan TESPOIN dalam CGC Indonesia 2026.
Ia menilai profesi teknisi telepon seluler berkembang pesat sehingga perlu diikuti peningkatan kualitas dan pengakuan keahlian.
“Dengan adanya teknisi telepon seluler bersertifikasi menjadi suatu peluang yang baik, dan saya berharap ekosistem teknisi telepon seluler dapat terus berkembang,” ucapnya. ***rel
