Threat of Aircraft Being Bombed
As is known, the Saudi Arabian plane with flight number SPA 5276 carrying 442 hajj pilgrims from group 12 JKS came from Depok City, West Java.
The Boeing 7773TG aircraft with registration HZ-AK32 initially flew from King Abdul Aziz Airport to Soekarno Hatta Airport or CKG.
However, during the flight, the pilot received a threat that the plane would be bombed, so the plane was diverted to immediately make an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
After making contact with the Kualanamu control tower at 10:30, the plane managed to land safely at 10:44 WIB, then the evacuation of the pilgrims began at 11:30 and continued with a briefing on handling North Sumatra and the TNI also immediately conducted a search of the Saudi Arabian plane. They were evacuated into the airport.
Motive Behind Bomb Threat
Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating the origin and motive behind the bomb threat against the Saudi Arabian plane carrying Indonesian hajj pilgrims.
Previously, the North Sumatra Religious Affairs Ministry Regional Office had offered the Saudi Arabian airline and Jakarta group 12 officers the opportunity for the pilgrims to stay at the Medan hajj dormitory.
The pilgrims are scheduled to be flown to Jakarta on Wednesday. ***
