Bobby Nasution calls on youth organizations to collaborate in tackling drugs and illegal labor
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has called upon all youth organizations in North Sumatra to strengthen cooperation in addressing various social problems that continue to plague the region. He stated that synergy between organizations is necessary to solve these problems more effectively and sustainably.
Bobby made this statement during the inauguration of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Indonesian Youth Renewal Movement (AMPI) of North Sumatra for the period 2026–2031 and the 9th AMPI Regional Conference (Musda) of North Sumatra at the Regale International Convention Center, Jalan Adam Malik no. 68, Medan, on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

According to Bobby, various problems such as drug use, crime, extortion, and the sending of illegal workers abroad require the attention and involvement of all segments of the population, including youth organizations.
“There are many problems that we must solve together. Youth organizations must not work in isolation, but collaborate to find solutions for various regional issues,” he said.
Bobby also emphasized the challenges posed by the development of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), which must be addressed by improving the quality of human capital. He stated that youth organizations play a strategic role in educating a superior young generation capable of competing in the digital age.
He emphasized that the provincial government of North Sumatra is prepared to support youth programs aimed at developing human capital, increasing digital literacy, and empowering the younger generation within the framework of Indonesia EMAS 2045.

On the same occasion, Bobby praised AMPI North Sumatra, which he believes is continuously developing and making a real contribution to the development of the younger generation in North Sumatra.
“If youth organizations focus on developing the quality of youth, the government is certainly willing to support them, both by facilitating activities and by collaborating on programs that benefit the community,” he said.
Bobby hopes that AMPI can become one of the leading organizations in youth cooperation in North Sumatra to address various societal challenges and support regional development. “Congratulations to Bang David Luther and the entire new board. May AMPI continue to grow, become increasingly beloved in the community, and continue to make the best contributions to North Sumatra,” he concluded.
The General Chairman of the Central Executive Board of AMPI, Jerry Sambuaga, praised the rapid and successful organization of the 9th AMPI Regional Conference (Musda) in North Sumatra. He stated that the North Sumatra Musda was one of the fastest in the history of AMPI Musda in Indonesia.
“The appointment of the chairman was completed in less than 30 minutes. This demonstrates that Bang David is loved and enjoys the full support of all AMPI districts/cities in North Sumatra,” he said.
Jerry hopes that the new management will strengthen organizational consolidation down to the village and local levels, thereby increasing the solidity of AMPI as a youth organization. On the same occasion, David Luther, Chairman of the Regional Executive Board (DPD) of AMPI North Sumatra, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him to lead AMPI North Sumatra for the next five years.
David explained that his leadership journey at AMPI North Sumatra began in 2018 as acting chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of AMPI North Sumatra. He was subsequently permanently installed by the Central Executive Board (DPP) of AMPI in 2021 and was given leadership of the organization again during the 9th Regional Conference (Musda) of AMPI North Sumatra.
“Without the support of all AMPI officials and board members in the districts and cities, I could not have achieved anything. Thank you for your unity and support so far. Let us work together to grow AMPI and serve the people of North Sumatra,” said David.

He believes that the challenges facing the current young generation are becoming increasingly complex, ranging from drug use and the development of the digital world to global competition that requires mastery of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI).
