Appointment of the Selection Team for Commissioners of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for the North Sumatra Region
The Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra (Sumut), Sulaiman Harahap, attended a hearing (RDP) with Commission A of the North Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, regarding the appointment of the Selection Team for Commissioners of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for the North Sumatra Region.
The meeting was chaired by Usman Jakfar, Chairman of Commission A of the North Sumatra DPRD, assisted by Vice-Chairman Zeira Salim Ritonga and other committee members.
The acting regional secretary was accompanied by Zulkifli, Secretary of the North Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Yazid Matondang, Secretary of the North Sumatra Communications and Information Agency (Kominfo), Porman Juanda Mahulae, Head of the Public Information and Communications Department (IKP), and the commissioners of the North Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (KPID).
Sulaiman Harahap stated that the selection process for the KPID commissioners will be conducted according to current procedures and that this is the responsibility of the selection committee. He is also one of the five members of the selection committee that will organize the selection process.
“We adhere to existing regulations and will follow the procedures prescribed by the selection committee. The results will be submitted to Commission A of the DPRD of North Sumatra,” said the acting regional secretary.
Selection of Commissioners for the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) for the North Sumatra Region
The selection committee appointed to select candidates for the KPID commissioners for North Sumatra consists of Corry Novrica AP Sinaga MA, Dr. Faisal and Dr. Yovita Sabarina Sitepu (academicians). Mimah Susanti represents the central KPID, and Sulaiman Harahap represents the provincial government.
“The selection committee has thus been appointed. The chairperson of this committee is Ms. Corry Novrica Sinaga. The secretariat will be located at the KPID office in North Sumatra. We will conduct this selection process carefully,” said Sulaiman Harahap.
The terms of the regional commissioners of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission of North Sumatra have been extended by 5 months
Zeira Salim Ritonga, vice-chair of Committee A of the North Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), also confirmed that once the composition of the selection committee has been finalized, the selection process will begin immediately. Budgetary support has also been secured to ensure a smooth process.
“The terms of office of the current North Sumatra KPID commissioners have been extended until new commissioners are selected. The target is five months, so we hope to have seven names by August,” Zeira said.
Committee A of the North Sumatra DPRD welcomed the attention of the acting regional secretary to the composition of the KPID selection committee. Now that the composition has been finalized, the selection process is expected to proceed as planned, leading to the appointment and inauguration of the new North Sumatra KPID commissioners. ***rel
