The 50th PRSU successfully promotes the development of North Sumatra
The 50th North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) was considered a success in presenting an exhibition on development as an informative, educational, and entertaining public space.
In addition to showcasing development achievements and regional potential, the PRSU also offered visitors an experience commensurate with the admission price, through various services, entertainment, and support for SMEs.

Since its opening on July 3, 2026, enthusiasm for the PRSU has continued to grow. This annual event serves not only as a platform to promote the development of North Sumatra but also as a platform for collaboration between the government, the business community, and actors from the creative economy to stimulate regional economic growth.
“We strive to offer PRSU an admission price that is commensurate with what the public receives during their visit. Visitors not only see the development fair but also enjoy an experience that includes education, public services, and entertainment, while simultaneously meeting and supporting North Sumatra’s SMEs so that they can continue to grow,” says Poppy Marulita Hutagalung, Head of the Economic Bureau of North Sumatra.
According to Poppy, one of PRSU’s strengths this year is its commitment to promoting the products of North Sumatra’s SMEs. The presence of hundreds of SMEs has had a tangible impact, both in terms of promotion and trade opportunities during the fair.
In the exhibition area, visitors can connect directly with entrepreneurs and enjoy a variety of high-quality products, ranging from culinary delights, handicrafts, fashion, and innovations in the creative economy. This makes PRSU not only an exhibition venue but also a bridge for North Sumatra’s SMEs to expand their market and increase their competitiveness.

PRSU has also received appreciation from the public, who consider the admission price appropriate for the experience they gain during their visit. The diverse facilities, entertainment, and educational attractions add value for visitors.
“I paid 35,000 rupiah for the ticket, and it is certainly worth it for what there is to see at the exhibition. We can view various development exhibitions from 33 regions/cities, there are games and educational attractions, great products from SMEs, and there is also a culinary bazaar,” said Rohma, a resident of Jalan SM Raja, Medan.
Another visitor, Rini S., a resident of Binjai, echoed Rohma’s words and expressed her satisfaction with the various attractions PRSU has to offer. “There are many interesting photo spots here, cultural performances on the Keong stage, and we can learn more about every region in North Sumatra through the information, programs, and products displayed in the regional pavilions. There are concerts by artists and even prizes to be won,” said Rini S.
Rini admitted that she enjoyed her visit to the district/city pavilions the most, because, in addition to information about the region’s opportunities, visitors could also participate in the prize lottery.

Every ticket buyer received a card on which stamps could be collected, which were a condition for having a chance to win prizes without the lottery. Visitors had to collect 30 stamps: 25 from the district/city pavilions and five from the sponsors’ stands. “Hopefully, I will collect enough stamps to win prizes. I have 10 left,” said Rini.
The success of the 50th PRSU demonstrated that development fairs can be designed as public spaces that combine elements of education, promotion of regional potential, entertainment, and support for SMEs.
With increasing public support and broader involvement from local businesses, PRSU is expected to remain a strategic agenda capable of stimulating the economy while simultaneously promoting the development of North Sumatra. ***REL
