50-meter Aek Sipange Bridge Completed

North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution inaugurated the Aek Sipange Bridge in the Aek Bilah district of South Tapanuli on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The bridge is located on Jalan Sipagimbar.

The 50-meter-long bridge was built with a budget of 21 billion Indonesian rupiah. Construction began in June 2025, and the bridge has a total width of 8 meters, consisting of a 6-meter-wide roadway and 1-meter-wide sidewalks on both sides.

Aek Sipange Bridge Connects South Tapanuli and North Padanglawas

The Aek Sipange Bridge also connects the South Tapanuli Regency with North Padanglawas.

Governor Bobby Nasution stated that the construction of the Aek Sipange Bridge symbolizes the continued development of the North Sumatra provincial government in the South Tapanuli region.

With the arrival of this bridge, development in the surrounding villages is expected to proceed more smoothly.

“During our visits to the villages we previously visited as part of development projects, we saw that this bridge is crucial for the supply of materials and goods. That is why this bridge has been prioritized,” said Bobby.

Bobby also emphasized the commitment to development in the South Tapanuli region. He revealed that construction was originally planned for South Tapanuli and North Padanglawas, but that this plan was hampered by the availability of materials in the region.

“If we were to work on one section at a time, there wouldn’t be enough money or materials available from South Tapanuli,” Irawan said.

North Sumatra in Development

The regent of South Tapanuli, Gus Irawan Pasaribu, expressed his gratitude to Governor Bobby Nasution for the construction of the Aek Sipange Bridge.

He hopes the bridge will improve regional connectivity and have a positive impact on the local economy.

“Hopefully, this will improve the economy and well-being of our people, especially in Aek Bilah Regency and the surrounding areas,” Irawan said.

According to Irawan, Governor Bobby Nasution’s vision for the development of North Sumatra is extraordinary. He also believes that North Sumatra will continue to develop under Irawan’s leadership.

Before the bridge was built, people had to cross a river to reach the other side. The river even claimed lives.

A few years ago, a car was swept away by the river current, killing eight people. This incident caught the attention of the provincial government, which eventually allocated funds for the construction of the bridge.

“The governor heard about the incident, subsequently allocated funds, and planned the construction of this bridge. Today, the bridge was completed and inaugurated,” he said. ***rel
