Truck Loaded with Grenades Overturns on Road near Tanjung Morawa
A truck, believed to be overloaded, overturned in the middle of the Trans-Sumatra Highway (Jalinsum) on Wednesday morning (February 11, 2026), just in front of the pedestrian bridge near the subsidized private school in Tanjung Morawa Village A, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency.
Although no injuries were reported in the accident, the overturned truck temporarily disrupted traffic.
Police Recover Overturned Truck
To ease traffic congestion, police are diverting vehicles from Medan to Lubuk Pakam to travel via the one-way Lubuk Pakam road to Medan.
“The recovery of the overturned vehicle is currently underway and traffic in the area has returned to normal,” said Naibaho, a traffic officer.
There were no fatalities in the incident.
Observations indicate that the truck, which was overloaded with shells, overturned and landed on the roadway due to the overload, making the road impassable for other traffic.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the overturning. Several people were seen unloading the cargo piled on the road and moving it to the side of the road.
Local residents reported that because there are no scales to monitor and regulate loads on the Trans-Sumatra Highway, many truck drivers ignore their overloads, which can be dangerous for other road users.
Furthermore, the heavy load, which exceeds the load-bearing capacity of the asphalt, is causing the road to rapidly deteriorate.***
