The TNI and the People: Key Forces in Upholding the Sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia
The Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, H. Surya, emphasized that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the people are the key forces in upholding the sovereignty and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
According to him, the synergy and unity between the TNI and the people must be continuously strengthened as a crucial element in maintaining national resilience.

Surya made this statement during the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian military (TNI) at the Regional Naval Command (Koarmada) I headquarters in Belawan—located at Jalan Serma Hanafiah No. 1, Belawan—on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The role of the TNI in maintaining national defense and security
According to Surya, the TNI plays a crucial role in maintaining national defense and security, while support from the population is essential for strengthening national resilience.
“The synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the people must continue to be strengthened. This unity is crucial for preserving the nation’s sovereignty and integrity,” stated Surya.
Surya also expressed his appreciation for the service and dedication of TNI personnel in carrying out their duties to uphold national defense and for their contributions to various activities that directly impact the community.
“The North Sumatra provincial government wishes the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) a happy 81st anniversary. We hope the TNI continues to improve, grow stronger and more professional, and always stands with the people in upholding the integrity and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” the statement read.

5 Guidelines for TNI PRIMA
In the address by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto—read by the ceremony inspector, Commander of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan (represented by the Commander of Kodaeral I Belawan, Rear Admiral Deny Septiana)—it was stated that the theme for this year’s TNI 81st-anniversary commemoration is: “TNI strong together with the people; Indonesia sovereign, just, and prosperous.”
This theme aligns with the importance of synergy between the TNI, the government, and all elements of society in maintaining stability and supporting national development.
Furthermore, all soldiers are called upon to make “TNI PRIMA” a culture of service to the nation and the state.
TNI PRIMA consists of five key guidelines: Professional, Responsive, Integrative, Modern, and Adaptive. These five values serve as a foundation for soldiers to enhance their capabilities, respond to developments in the strategic environment, foster synergy with all segments of the nation, master defense technology, and continuously innovate when facing various challenges.

The TNI commander also requested that these five aspects be consistently applied, ensuring that PRIMA becomes the guiding principle for developing the TNI’s capabilities in terms of mindset and action.
The commemorative events marking the TNI’s 81st anniversary at Mako Kodaeral I Belawan included the ceremonial cutting of a tumpeng (conical rice dish) and a birthday cake. The tumpeng and cake were presented to the three youngest soldiers, representing the three branches of the TNI: the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force.
The ceremony was also attended by officials from the North Sumatra provincial government, members of the TNI and Polri (National Police), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, executives from state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and regional enterprises (BUMD), as well as regents and mayors, youth organizations, and religious leaders. ***rel

TNI dan Rakyat Kekuatan Utama Jaga Kedaulatan NKRI
Wakil Gubernur (Wagub) Sumatera Utara (Sumut), H Surya menegaskan, Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) dan rakyat merupakan kekuatan utama dalam menjaga kedaulatan, serta keutuhan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI).
Menurutnya, sinergi dan kebersamaan antara TNI dan rakyat harus terus diperkuat sebagai modal penting dalam menjaga ketahanan nasional.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Surya dalam momentum peringatan Hari Ulang Tahun (HUT) ke-81 TNI di Markas Komando Daerah Angkatan Laut (Kodaeral) I Belawan, Jalan Serma Hanafiah Nomor 1, Belawan, Senin, 5 Oktober 2026.
Peran TNI Menjaga Pertahanan dan Keamanan Negara
Menurut Surya, TNI memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga pertahanan dan keamanan negara, sementara dukungan masyarakat menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dalam memperkuat ketahanan nasional.
“Sinergi antara TNI dan rakyat harus terus diperkuat. Kebersamaan ini menjadi modal penting dalam menjaga kedaulatan dan keutuhan negara,” ujar Surya.
Surya juga menyampaikan apresiasi atas pengabdian dan dedikasi prajurit TNI dalam menjalankan tugas menjaga pertahanan negara serta memberikan kontribusi dalam berbagai kegiatan yang bersentuhan langsung dengan masyarakat.
“Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Utara mengucapkan selamat HUT ke-81 TNI. Kita berharap TNI semakin prima, solid, profesional, dan senantiasa bersama rakyat dalam menjaga keutuhan serta kedaulatan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia,” harapnya.
5 Pedoman TNI PRIMA
Dalam amanat Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto yang dibacakan Inspektur Upacara Komandan Kodaeral I Belawan Laksamana Muda TNI Deny Septiana, disebutkan bahwa peringatan HUT ke-81 TNI tahun ini mengusung tema “TNI Kuat Bersama Rakyat, Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil dan Makmur.”
Tema tersebut dinilai sejalan dengan pentingnya sinergi antara TNI, pemerintah dan seluruh elemen masyarakat dalam menjaga stabilitas serta mendukung pembangunan nasional. Selain itu, seluruh prajurit diminta menjadikan TNI PRIMA sebagai budaya pengabdian kepada bangsa dan negara.
TNI PRIMA terdiri atas lima pedoman utama, yakni Profesional, Responsif, Integratif, Modern dan Adaptif. Kelima nilai tersebut menjadi landasan bagi prajurit dalam meningkatkan kemampuan, merespons perkembangan lingkungan strategis, membangun sinergi dengan seluruh komponen bangsa, menguasai teknologi pertahanan, serta terus berinovasi dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan.
Panglima TNI juga meminta kelima aspek tersebut dilaksanakan secara konsisten sehingga PRIMA menjadi arah pengembangan kemampuan TNI dalam berpikir, bersikap dan bertindak.
Rangkaian peringatan HUT ke-81 TNI di Mako Kodaeral I Belawan juga ditandai dengan pemotongan tumpeng dan kue ulang tahun. Potongan tumpeng dan kue diberikan kepada tiga prajurit termuda yang mewakili tiga matra TNI, yakni Angkatan Darat, Angkatan Laut dan Angkatan Udara.
Upacara tersebut turut dihadiri jajaran Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Utara, unsur TNI/Polri dan Kejaksaan, pimpinan BUMN dan BUMD, serta Bupati/Walikota, organisasi kepemudaan dan tokoh agama. ***rel
