The government of President Prabowo continues internship and vocational training programs in the second semester of 2026
The government has drafted an economic stimulus package for the first quarter and the second semester of 2026, consisting of eight policy measures under three main pillars. One of the focal points of this package is internship and vocational training programs to improve the competence of the workforce and stimulate economic activity in the community.
This was announced by the Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, during a press conference on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the office of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs in Jakarta. Minister of Labor Yassierli and Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi were also present.

Airlangga stated that the government will encourage the implementation of internship and vocational training programs in the second semester of 2026 as part of efforts to maintain the momentum of national economic growth.
“We will encourage the implementation of these internship and vocational training programs in the second half of the second semester so that they become a driving force for the community economy,” said Airlangga.
In the stimulus package, the government has allocated a budget of 6.26 trillion Indonesian rupees (IDR), consisting of 4.14 trillion IDR for the National Internship Program for 150,000 participants and 2.12 trillion IDR for vocational training. The vocational training program prioritized 220,000 graduates from vocational schools and 50,000 workers affected by layoffs.
Minister of Labor Yassierli explained that the National Internship Program 2025 (MagangHub) had shown positive results. The program recruited 102,600 participants from 370,500 applicants, who were placed with 8,048 companies and government agencies throughout Indonesia.
Participants received compensation equal to the minimum wage, workers’ compensation insurance (JKK) and death insurance (JKM), guidance, and the opportunity to participate in the National Certification of Workers’ Competencies (BNSP).

A survey of 65,245 participants revealed that 84.26 percent were satisfied or very satisfied with the National Internship Program. Regarding economic benefits, 67.13 percent of respondents indicated that the program had improved, or even significantly improved, the economic situation of the participants and their families.
A survey of 7,217 companies and institutions offering internships also showed positive results: 84.13 percent indicated they were satisfied or very satisfied with the contributions of the interns.
“We consider these results to be very positive feedback for the implementation of the second cohort of internships,” said Yassierli.
Assessments by 22,297 mentors revealed that 65.55 percent of participants experienced a significant improvement in their technical competence during the program. The assessments also showed improvements in communication, teamwork, problem-solving ability, critical thinking, adaptability, and technical skills relevant to their field of work.

“The average competence score of the participants rose from 3.77 to 4.19 based on the participants’ own assessments, and from 3.33 to 3.66 based on the mentors’ assessments,” stated the Minister.
Regarding employment, the financial sector was the largest recipient of interns who were offered jobs, followed by wholesale and manufacturing. The healthcare, information and communication technology, administrative services, and hospitality sectors are also actively recruiting graduates from internship programs.
“This also illustrates our promise from the Ministry of Labor to present the evaluation results transparently. This is based on 85 percent of the data from the internship participants,” said Yassierli.
The Minister of Labour emphasized that the Ministry of Labour continues to strengthen the national vocational training ecosystem through training, competency certification, and the strengthening of the training infrastructure.
