During this legal advice session, the detainees received information regarding their rights, access to legal aid, and various legal data that can serve as a basis for their rehabilitation and social reintegration upon their return to society.

On this occasion, PERSAJA Chairperson Asep N. Mulyana, represented by Katarina Endang Sarwestri, Legal Advisor to the Attorney General, addressed the detainees with encouragement and support. In her speech, Katarina emphasized that PERSAJA’s presence was not intended to reflect on the detainees’ past, but rather to work together towards a better future.

“We believe that everyone has the chance to improve themselves, learn from experiences, and become a better person. Through this legal education activity, we hope that detainees will gain a better understanding of the law, their rights, and their duties as citizens,” said Katarina, conveying the message of the PERSAJA Chairperson.

With the theme “Strong Women, Rising with Hope and Independence,” this activity highlighted the important role of women in the family, society, and the country. Yusna Adia, Coordinator of the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes, was the first speaker, followed by Noridha Weningsari, Head of Section 1 of the Central Board of the Association for Forensic Psychology.

In her speech, the PERSAJA Chairperson emphasized that true resilience does not mean never falling, but rather having the courage and determination to get back up. Hope is considered the driving force, while independence will be the most important asset in shaping the future after the rehabilitation period.

The PERSAJA Chairperson also expressed her great appreciation for the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate-General of Corrections for the Jakarta Special Region, the Director of Prisoner and Child Development at the Ministry of Immigration and Correction, and the Head of the Class IIA Women’s Prison in Jakarta and their staff, who have created an extraordinary space for cooperation to guarantee the success of this development program.

At the end of her speech, the PERSAJA Chairperson, through Katarina, encouraged all female detainees to absorb all the knowledge, advice, and experiences shared by the speakers. Katarina stated that legal education is a concrete effort to increase legal awareness among detainees, so that they understand their rights and obligations during their detention.

This provision is expected to spark renewed enthusiasm and be a positive step in the social reintegration process, ensuring they are ready to return to society as independent and self-confident individuals. ***adh
