North Sumatra Deputy Governor Assures Follow-Up on DPRD Recess Results
North Sumatra (Sumut) Deputy Governor Surya emphasized the commitment of the North Sumatra Provincial Government to address and follow up on the public aspirations expressed by members of the North Sumatra Regional Representative Council (DPRD) during the recess.
“These ambitions will form the basis for setting priorities in the implementation of regional development programs,” said North Sumatra Vice Governor H. Surya during the plenary meeting of the North Sumatra District Government on the report of the second recess for the second parliamentary year (2025-2026), held at the North Sumatra District Government building in Medan on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
After hearing the council’s recess report, Vice Governor Surya stated that the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov Sumut) must follow up on the proposals, as these ambitions represent the actual needs of the population in the 33 regencies/cities or 12 constituencies (Dapil) in North Sumatra.
“Naturally, the public will eagerly await the implementation of the proposals. Furthermore, the public is expected to understand that the government faces various constraints, particularly in terms of financing,” the Deputy Governor stated.
Medium-Term Development Plan and Regional Work Plan
Despite these constraints, Deputy Governor Surya stated that the proposals and ambitions submitted during the plenary session will be prioritized and incorporated into the regional planning and budget documents, including the Medium-Term Development Plan and the Regional Work Plan.
“Furthermore, we would like to thank all members of the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) who took their recess and submitted their reports, and who explained and disseminated information about the programs and activities implemented by the North Sumatra provincial government,” the Deputy Governor stated.
Improving Public Services and Infrastructure
During the meeting, several council members, acting as spokespersons for their respective constituencies, also reported on the results of the recess, which took place from February 5 to 14, 2026. Various ambitions were expressed, ranging from improving public services to improving infrastructure.
“We hope that the government will actively monitor environmental damage. Furthermore, the UHC program requires intensive public education to ensure the public understands its benefits. Disaster management also requires swift action in cooperation with the central and district/municipal governments,” said Hendra Cipta, spokesperson for the recess team of the North Sumatra DPRD. ***rel
