Inmate escapes from cell in Stabat court case concerning possession of thousands of ecstasy pills
An inmate in a case concerning the possession of thousands of ecstasy pills escaped from a cell in the Stabat court on Thursday (March 12, 2026) around 3:30 PM.
Mahlul Rida, a resident of Aceh, who was detained in a case concerning the possession of thousands of ecstasy pills, escaped from a cell in the Stabat court.
According to the information received, the inmate’s name is Mahlul Rida. He is a resident of Aceh. Mahlul escaped after the hearing, which took place in the Candra courtroom.
As is customary, the inmates were led out of the courtroom in handcuffs after the trial.
The detainees were then returned to the detention center behind the Stabat courthouse.
Court negligence leads to prisoner escape
Other detainees, however, were surprised that Mahlul had not been placed in the inner cell.
The outer cell is normally used exclusively for family visits, communication, and meals.
The head of the Special Crimes Department of the Langkat Public Prosecution Service, Yoyok Adi Syahputra, SH, MH, confirmed that a detainee named Mahlul Rida from Aceh had been found.
Yoyok explained that his office is currently conducting a search and investigation in the vicinity of the Stabat courthouse.
Involved parties are searching for the perpetrator.
“That’s all the information I can provide for now. We are currently trying to conduct a search and investigation in the vicinity of the Stabat courthouse,” Yoyok said.
The Langkat District Public Prosecutor’s Office is also working with the Stabat District Court, the Chief of Detectives, and other officials to conduct a crime scene investigation and review CCTV footage from the prison.***
