Alternative punishments in the new Criminal Code: Community service is a form of alternative punishment established in the new Criminal Code.

Community service is aimed at rehabilitation and the well-being of the community, not at undermining dignity, and its execution is further explained in the judge’s ruling.

According to Bobbi, the introduction of this community service is a breakthrough for the Public Prosecution Service of Banda Aceh, as it is the first application based on the provisions of the new Criminal Code. “The introduction of this community service is the first under the new Criminal Code,” stated Bobbi Sandri. In the future, community service may serve as an alternative sentencing option in certain cases, provided it is in accordance with the court’s ruling. The Public Prosecution Service of Banda Aceh hopes that the execution of this sentence will proceed smoothly until all 100 hours of community service have been completed.

“In addition to ensuring the execution of court rulings, this community service is also expected to have a rehabilitative effect on the convicted individuals and benefit the community surrounding the location where the sentence is carried out,” says Bobbi. ***adh
