Budi Utomo High School Students Win Inter-School Pekingsai Competition
Students of Budi Utomo High School (SMA) Medan have succeeded in reaping achievements. Through the Budi Utomo High School Pekingsai Group, they have succeeded in winning the Inter-School Pekingsai competition for the IPTI Sumut Cup.
The Inter-School Pekingsai Competition took place on Saturday, June 8, 2025 at DeliPark Mall Medan. And Budi Utomo High School Medan also enlivened it by sending its best students.
It was proven that Budi Utomo High School students were able to compete with other participants from high schools throughout Medan City, by winning 1st place for the girls’ group and 2nd place for the boys’ group, in the Inter-School Pekingsai competition.
The competitions held by IPTI Sumut Cup include Barongsai Traditional Between Schools participated by 9 schools; Barongsai Traditional U-18 (9 schools); Naga Taolu Bebas (3 schools); and Pekingsai Taolu Bebas (3 schools).
”We are very proud of the achievements of SMA Budi Utomo Medan students. Our fostered school (United Teochew Association) is able to compete with elite schools in Medan City,” said the Chairman of the North Sumatra Teochew Association, Juswan Tjoe who was accompanied by Deputy Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Susanto Tan and Secretary General Jacob Lie.
He hopes that this achievement can be developed by other SMA Budi Utomo Medan students in various competitions or competitions in Medan City. ***
