Resolution of labor disputes at PT Indonesia Epson Industry: consultation comes first

The Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker) attaches great importance to social dialogue in building harmonious labor relations. Through this approach, the government facilitates communication between the management of PT Indonesia Epson Industry and the trade union, so that any labor disputes can be resolved in an open and balanced manner.

The Deputy Minister of Labor, Afriansyah Noor, stated that the government acts as a mediator and promotes communication between all parties. This approach must maintain a balance between the protection of workers’ rights, business continuity, and a safe investment climate.

“Social dialogue is essential to unravel the dynamics of labor relations. The government exists to facilitate constructive and peaceful talks so that workers’ rights are fairly protected,” stated Afriansyah during a dialogue with the Federation of Indonesian Global Trade Unions (F-SPGI) of PT Indonesia Epson Industry in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

According to Afriansyah, the labor relations issues at PT Indonesia Epson Industry were resolved through consultation. This approach was chosen to ensure a full understanding of each issue before appropriate measures were taken.

The process began with a hearing with the Federation of Indonesian Global Trade Unions (F-SPGI). During the meeting, the union expressed various concerns, including the implementation of the collective labor agreement (CLA), the dynamics of the union organization, and the implementation of temporary employment contracts (PKWT).

After hearing the input from the union, the Ministry of Labor facilitated a meeting between employee representatives and the company’s management. This forum offered both parties the opportunity to express their respective viewpoints and gain a better understanding of the various current issues.

During the dialogue, the union shared its vision regarding the procedures and timeline for union registration. Management explained that the adopted policy was based on the results of the company’s performance review (company evaluation).

The discussion also covered the governance of the union organization to ensure it remains in line with the company’s principle of neutrality. This is part of the efforts to ensure healthy labor relations, mutual respect, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Through this series of dialogues, the Ministry of Labor focuses on improving the quality of communication between employees and management, strengthening sustainable labor relations, and monitoring compliance with laws and regulations regarding labor standards.

Afriansyah hopes that continued communication will lead to a shared understanding between employees and management. He is convinced that resolving various problems will proceed more smoothly if all parties prioritize dialogue and mutual respect.
