Door-to-door information campaign regarding motor vehicle tax
The provincial government of North Sumatra (Pemprov), through the regional tax authority (Bapenda), is increasingly committed to raising public awareness of the importance of paying motor vehicle tax.
One of these initiatives is the “Sadar Pajak” (Tax Information) program, which prioritizes direct information at the neighborhood and residential level, or “door-to-door.”

The head of Bapenda North Sumatra, Sutan Tolang Lubis, stated that the program aims to educate the public and remind them to fulfill their motor vehicle tax obligations on time.
“We are currently conducting information campaigns regarding motor vehicle tax. We hope that these campaigns will further encourage the public to pay their motor vehicle tax,” said Sutan.
According to him, officials will focus on various locations that are centers of community activity, such as streets, public places, busy centers, food stalls, and even make home visits to residents. “Yes, our officers will provide information in the field, on the street, in public places, busy spots, at food stalls, and even in people’s homes,” he said.
In the implementation, the North Sumatra Regional Tax Office (Bapenda) and its Technical Implementation Units (UPT) will collaborate with the Traffic Directorate (Dirlantas) of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Jasa Raharja, and the district and city departments of the Tax Office to expand the information campaign.

“To create a broader reach, we are working with relevant parties and increasing public awareness regarding taxes. Hopefully, this will have a greater impact and allow us to maximize our objectives,” said Sutan.
He hopes that through this direct approach, the public will become more aware of the importance of paying the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and will regularly check the due date. “With this campaign, we hope the public becomes aware of their Motor Vehicle Tax and checks whether it is due. If so, we hope they pay it immediately,” he said.
The Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) is one of the regional revenue sources on which the provincial government of North Sumatra is focusing in 2026. In addition to the “Tax Information” program, the North Sumatra Regional Tax Office (Bapenda) has also launched the “Tax Celebration” program to increase revenue from the Motor Vehicle Tax.
Sutan previously stated that the target value for PKB revenue in 2026 had been set at 1.81 trillion Indonesian rupees. This target value was higher than the 1.74 trillion rupees of the previous year, with an actual revenue of 1.44 trillion rupees in 2025. ***rel
