Governor Encourages Businesses to Collaborate to Accelerate North Sumatra’s Economic Growth
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has called upon the business sector and the corporate community to strengthen cooperation to stimulate regional economic growth.
He stated that the business sector plays a crucial role in achieving North Sumatra’s economic growth targets, despite the various challenges the region faces.

Nasution made this appeal during a networking dinner marking the 50th North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) in 2026, held at the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, Jalan Sudirman No. 41, Medan. The event was attended by representatives of regional companies (BUMD), private companies, and various strategic partners.
In his speech, Nasution expressed his appreciation for all parties and sponsors who supported the 50th PRSU. He stated that PRSU is not only an annual event commemorating the provincial anniversary of North Sumatra and the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, but also a strategic platform for preserving culture and promoting the diverse potential of the region.
Addressed by the business community, Bobby emphasized the importance of the private sector as a driving force behind regional economic growth. According to him, North Sumatra must achieve an economic growth of 7.1% to meet the national economic growth target.

“To meet these challenges, there must be movement from the business sector, which is the driving force behind economic growth at the local level in North Sumatra,” stated Bobby Nasution.
As a demonstration of his commitment to investments, Bobby emphasized that the provincial government of North Sumatra is ready to make things easy for investors. He assured that the permitting process and investment activities will be simplified to create a more favorable and competitive business climate. The event was also attended by various leaders of major companies, including Lazada, PT Inalum, Indosat, and GoTo (Gojek Tokopedia).
“We would like to hear about the challenges on the ground and what we, as a local government, can do to support your business expansion. The larger your company becomes, the greater the impact on community employment,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ferry Indra, Director of PT Pembangunan Infrasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU), stated that the 50th PRSU was set up as an event to be proud of and to unite the various regional opportunities.

In addition to participation from 33 districts/cities in North Sumatra, this year’s PRSU also attracted participants from various provinces in Indonesia and friendly countries, including representatives from Penang Island in Malaysia.
According to Ferry, this year’s PRSU will place more emphasis on the quality and authenticity of the content, highlighting the local wealth of North Sumatra. “Approximately 75% of the content shown will consist of original works from North Sumatra.
This time, we are not focusing on mass production, but are prioritizing a collection of high-quality content that has undergone a rigorous selection process,” Ferry explained.
With this concept, PRSU aims to become a high-quality and engaging platform for promotion and performances, which will also increase the economic value of local culture and the creative industry in the region.

Various programs and competitions, such as competitions for contemporary dance, video production, and short films, are expected to start in July, involving professional judges in their respective fields.
