6-Year-Old Boy from Air Bersih Dies After Being Swept by the Bilah River
A six-year-old boy from Air Bersih ward in Padang Matinggi Village, Rantau Utara District, Labuhanbatu Province, has been found dead after being swept away by the Bilah River.
The victim was reportedly swept away while bathing with friends around 4:00 PM (Western IBC) on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).
BPBD team searches for victim
The Rapid Response Unit (URC) team of the Labuhanbatu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), led by Darwin Yusma, has been searching the area around the incident site for the victim’s body since Thursday morning (March 5, 2026).
In addition, the search for victims in the river that divides the city of Rantauprapat was supported by personnel and equipment from a joint team from the National Search and Rescue Agency Tanjungbalai (Basarnas).
Victim found dead after 24-hour search
After floating for approximately 24 hours, the victim, Fadli Syahputra, a student at Kuntum Bumi Kindergarten, was finally found.
“The victim was found this afternoon after floating for approximately 24 hours. The victim was found lifeless,” Darwin Yusma, head of the Labuhanbatu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), told various media outlets.
The victim’s body, wrapped in plastic, was immediately taken to Rantauprapat Regional Hospital for confirmation of death and examination of his condition.***
