Young man from Medan Gol caught burglarizing in Jambi
A 27-year-old man from Medan, Ari Syahputra, has been arrested in Jambi in connection with a gold theft.
The theft occurred at a rental property on Jalan Guntur RT 05, Kasang Village, East Jambi District, Jambi.
East Jambi Police Chief Marwiansyah stated that the perpetrator likely broke into the victim’s rental property by breaking the rear window. The victim was fast asleep at the time of the theft.
The perpetrator stole two rings and a gold bracelet.
“The perpetrator entered the victim’s home around 3:30 a.m. (WEB) on Saturday (February 21, 2026) and stole gold jewelry and other valuables,” Marwiansyah said.
The victim is a housewife with the initials J (27). She only discovered the theft when she got up to get a drink and saw the back window open.
In addition, her bag containing two rings and a gold bracelet had been moved.
The victim filed a report at the nearest police station.
“The victim then checked her bag and discovered that the gold jewelry and money were missing. The total damage is estimated at approximately 47 million Indonesian rupiah,” Marwiansyah explained.
The victim then filed a report with the East Jambi police. The investigative team, led by Detective Rudi, immediately went to the scene to investigate and take witness statements.
The investigation revealed that police suspect a man who had recently moved into a rental property near the crime scene. Officers then convincingly approached the alleged perpetrator’s residence.
Police arrested the perpetrator and seized the stolen evidence.
Officers, accompanied by the district chief, conducted a search. They found a wallet containing gold jewelry, including two rings and a bracelet, which the victim claimed belonged to him.
“The perpetrator has confessed to his actions. The perpetrator and the evidence are currently being held at the East Jambi police station pending further legal investigation,” police said.
Police seized various pieces of evidence, including the wallet containing the gold jewelry, a mobile phone, tweezers used to break the window, and a cloth used to climb over the wall.
The perpetrator will be prosecuted under Article 477 of Act No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, which concerns aggravated robbery.***
