Village children have the opportunity to become Indonesian leaders

The Vice Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Surya, emphasized that village children have the same opportunity to become Indonesian leaders. He made this statement during a motivational speech to students of SMKN 1 Portibi in the North Padanglawas district of Paluta on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

During his visit, Surya encouraged the students not to be intimidated by their background. He stated that obedience, diligent study, and honesty are the keys to achieving their dreams.

“Village children can become leaders. The key is obedience and study. Hopefully, they will succeed,” Surya said in a classroom at SMKN 1 Portibi in Paluta.

He also emphasized that a good educational background is no barrier to becoming a leader. “I graduated from a vocational school, and you can also become leaders. From now on, we must believe that knowledge is useful. We must obey our teachers. Not disobeying teachers is the same as disobeying our parents. And one more thing: be honest,” Surya concluded.

Key to Success: Respect for Teachers

According to him, the key to success remains the same everywhere, regardless of where you study. “Wherever you are, whether it’s school or university, the key is respect for your teachers,” Surya said.

Surya also encouraged the students as the next generation of the country that will realize Indonesia’s EMAS 2045. “Because you will ultimately realize Indonesia’s EMAS 2045,” Surya said.

Inspection of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program

In addition to inspecting the school, Surya also inspected the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. He personally inspected the menu distributed to the students, which included dates, beef flakes, nuts, pastries, and mangosteen. “The menu served today is meant to break the fast,” Surya continued.

Surya explained that the Free Nutritious Meals (FMP) Program is President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship program for all schoolchildren. The program aims to ensure that children, as the country’s future generation, receive a balanced diet.***obs
