Vice Governor Surya reminds civil servants in North Sumatra to continue providing optimal service to the population during Ramadan

The Vice Governor of North Sumatra, H. Surya, reminded civil servants (ASN) in North Sumatra to continue improving their performance during Ramadan.

And to continue providing optimal public services so that government programs truly benefit the population.

Surya delivered this message during the commemoration ceremony of the National Awareness Day of the province of North Sumatra, which took place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the courtyard of the Office of the Governor of North Sumatra, Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro No. 30, Medan.

“Let us welcome the month of Ramadan with joy and reverence. Let us show respect to those who are not fasting. Fasting should not be an excuse for a decline in our performance. The month of fasting should not be an excuse for a decline in the quality of public service,” Surya said.

Surya emphasized that fasting does not hinder productivity. On the contrary, Ramadan should be an incentive to increase work ethic and service.

Civil servants urged not to neglect their duties and responsibilities

He also urged all civil servants to respect each other, perform their prayers with reverence and humility, and not neglect their duties and responsibilities.

During the commemoration of National Awareness Day, Surya emphasized that public trust is the government’s most important asset.

Trust, he stated, is not built with words, but with the attitude and behavior of civil servants in the workplace.

“This commemoration of Awareness Day reminds us that we must serve the community and work on programs that truly benefit it,” he said.

He added that the core values of civil servants include consistency in work, loyalty to responsibility, and honesty in the exercise of authority.

If these values are applied in daily life, public services will improve, coordination will be stronger, and development will be more effective.

Conversely, Surya said, if civil servants work only to fulfill their obligations, any program, no matter how large, will not have a significant impact.

Civil servants must collaborate and support each other

Current regional development, he continued, requires an adaptive bureaucracy: services must be faster, procedures simpler, and policies more focused.

“I invite everyone to improve our way of working, starting with the most fundamental: discipline. Discipline is not just about being on time, but also about our dedication to completing the job and providing the community with the best possible service,” he said.

Surya further emphasized the importance of loyalty among civil servants as an expression of our commitment to the duties and responsibilities of the state.

In its implementation, ASN must work together, support each other, and pursue the same development direction for the benefit of the community. ***rel
