Thief in Tanjung Morawa assaulted by crowd
Gunandar Surya, also known as Nanda (37), a resident of Pekan Village, Tanjung Morawa, Deli Serdang District, was assaulted by residents after he was caught red-handed robbing a woman. Fortunately, the suspect was rescued from the angry crowd by officers of the Tanjung Morawa police station, thus saving his life.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Tanjung Morawa police station pending further investigation and the unmasking of his gang.
Bag thief steals bag from passerby
According to information gathered, the suspect was arrested by residents last Thursday when he tried to steal the bag of Fitri Mariani Manurung (27). Manurung was riding a motorcycle on Jalan Desa Tanjung Morawa B.
The victim had just returned from an English lesson when the suspect approached her. The suspect had been following her on a motorcycle without a license plate.
The suspect suddenly grabbed the victim’s black backpack. The startled victim immediately screamed for help.
Police and local residents arrest the suspect.
The screams were heard by local residents and alerted police officers who happened to be patrolling the area. They immediately gave chase.
Shortly afterward, the suspect was apprehended by angry residents in the Simpang Abu Nawas neighborhood, Tanjung Morawa district. Police also seized evidence, including the victim’s mobile phone and the motorcycle he was riding.
Tanjung Morawa Police Chief, AKP Jonni H. Damanik, stated that the perpetrator is currently being questioned further at the Tanjung Morawa Police Station to answer for his actions in accordance with current law.
“The suspect in the street robbery has been remanded in custody pending trial,” he concluded.***
