The government of President Prabowo Subianto, through Minister of Labor Yassierli, has taken various strategic steps to strengthen the well-being, protection, and competencies of workers.
This was announced during the opening of the National Conference of the Federation of Trade Unions for Printing, Publishing, and Information Media (FSP PPMI) SPSI in Surakarta, Central Java.
The Minister of Labor stated that various employment policy measures are being formulated based on practical needs, in consultation with workers, trade unions, the business community, and other stakeholders.
He believes that cooperation is a key pillar for building harmonious, productive, and sustainable labor relations.
“Good labor relations can only be achieved if the government, employers, and workers continue to cooperate and build mutual trust to find solutions for every challenge in the labor market,” stated Yassierli.
The government’s commitment to strengthening the well-being and protection of workers is reflected in various employment policy measures.

One way to achieve this is by improving the Job Loss Guarantee Program (JKP) for workers who lose their jobs. This program offers income support during the transition period and access to training to improve skills.
Additionally, the government has expanded worker protection through the introduction of the Domestic Workers Protection Act (UU PPRT), the awarding of holiday bonuses (BHR) to drivers of app-based transport services, the reduction of social security contributions for workers in the informal sector, and the ratification of ILO Convention No. 188 to strengthen the protection of Indonesian fishing vessel crews.
The Minister of Labor added that the government also continues to work on improving the quality of human capital through vocational training and the National Apprenticeship Program. Both programs are designed to strengthen the competencies of the workforce and align them with the needs of the industry.
“We want every Indonesian worker to have the opportunity to improve their skills, so that they are better prepared for changes in the labor market and have a stronger competitive position,” said Yassierli.

The Minister of Labor encouraged employers and trade unions to continue strengthening cooperation to promote harmonious labor relations.
“Cooperation is essential for creating high-quality jobs and improving the well-being of workers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Said Iqbal, Special Advisor to the President for Employment and Workers’ Welfare, urged all trade unions to continue strengthening their organizations to address the various challenges in the labor market.
