Stabat Resident Scams 5 Women, Arrested by Police
Police have arrested a scammer named Bambang (30), residing in Stabat, Langkat District, on Jalan Amal, Medan Sunggal.
The perpetrator allegedly scammed five women.
Victims via Dating App
The man used a dating app to invite his victims to meet him and then stole their motorcycles.
The perpetrator targeted women who owned motorcycles.
“The suspect established a relationship, then invited them to meet two or three times, and then stole the victims’ motorcycles,” Medan Sunggal Police Chief Yunus Tarigan said on Wednesday, January 21.
He said that, based on questioning by detectives, the perpetrator admitted to committing the crime five times within the jurisdiction of the Medan Sunggal Police.
Proceeds from the scam used for gambling
“He sold the stolen motorcycles and used the proceeds to gamble online.
The public who believes they have been victims of fraud by the perpetrator is urged to report the crime to the Sunggal Police,” he said.
“The perpetrator is currently being held at the Medan Sunggal Police Station to answer for his actions and faces a prison sentence of up to five years,” he concluded. ***
